Should I go with the M50's? - Page 2

The bass on the M50s while excellent, are still pretty short of a bass heavy can. Someone said it earlier but they're studio monitors and weren't exactly built for the same purpose as other cans known for their bass. The extension and control I love but there are plenty of headphones that can give you stronger more powerful bass while note sacrificing overall quality. It's just the impact and slam of the bass is not very heavy. I can't really give you an exact feed on the ultrasone or the HD25 but it is almost just universally known that the bass on those two are just more powerful.

I would really need to hear the 580 and HD25 to properly compare them in other regions, especially as far as value goes. The Ultrasone is cheaper and the HD25 is more expensive.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by bulky.  They are of average size, and very light weight.  They're probably less bulky than the others you listed in the OP.

The general consensus is that the M50s and 25-1 IIs have good bass, but aren't really proper basshead cans, and a Beats owner will probably laugh at you if you try and say they're bassier.  The ATs and Senns will have better extension and detail in the low frequencies, but a Beats owner is going to focus on sheer visceral impact, which the Beats do have a lot of.

Pretty much this. At least on the M50. Especially if they're hiphop/rap listeners. The raw power will be enough for them to just scoff at an M50 if they aren't someone who cares for detail.

buy Skullcandy Skullcrushers. I heard they have subs in those.

lol. Also, I just wanna say again, the XB500 sounds like something you'd want. Or at least something like it with better detail, since you are willing to go up to $250 your options get better.

Is that honestly just too big for you?

They've been getting massive amounts of promotion with X Factor(the tv show) so they're pretty stylish. Lots of the contestants there wear them around their neck. But to each his own I suppose. The HD25-1 ii Adidas is probably the most I got as far as style is concerned.

Most people agree that M50's extend deeper but the 580's have more quantity and a little better quality (tightness).  Also, the current retail version of the M50 stock is more balanced with less bass than previous revisions.
