SR80 driver, loose voice coil wire

Picked up my sr80s today to find the right driver not putting any sound out, a little trouble shooting and figure out it was not the cable, alittle shaking of the headphone, and it comes back here and there but the bass is distorted, as it moves the coil too much and the whole thing cuts out again. Is there anyway to open up the driver and fix this? or am i SOL at the moment. Thanks!

I would check if its the cable or the actual driver first. A break near where the cable enters the cup often behaves like you describe.

If your handy with a soldering iron- open em up, measure resistances all over the place, and see whats wrong. If you are careful you can actually measure the resistances without opening the cups - use an unfolded paperclip. Just be sure that you dont poke it through the driver.

If not, send em back to grado.
