Looking for a pair of headphones. I listen to lots of music, mostly Vocaloids (covers a lot of genres) and classic (well, the only classic so far is probably some of the Angel Beats! music) along with some random Japanese songs I find while watching anime. I watch anime often so I guess you could classify that as movies. I do really small amounts of gaming (Dirt 3 only so far) so take it as if I do none. I like great instrument separation since I love to play my favorite songs on piano and I have to transpose most of it. I think that's it. Thanks!
Heya,
Closed? Open? Source? Already have any equipment (DAC/AMP)? Willing to get equipment?
My first thoughts assuming no source equipment with vocals/classical in mind: AudioTechnia AD900, Goldring DR150, Fischer Audio FA-002
Very best,
If by classic you mean the music found in the show Angel Beats, then it seems like your music listening consists mostly of Vocaloid covers, Japanese songs like J-Pop and J-Rock if I had to guess, and piano. If so, I think you should look into the Shure SRH 840 ($130) or KRK KNS 8400 ($120).
From what I've read the AH-D2000's are some amazing headphones. I've seen them go on sale frequently, usually down the $250 but $230 is a great deal.
Edit: Raised the budget to $300. Kicks down my budget for gear to $300 too.
