I upgraded from a sblive to audigy.

I was expecting quite alot to be honest but it's not much better than the live. Not the sound quality I was expecting at all.

But the good thing is it doesnt use much cpu at all in games which is good for me.

I was going to get a audigy regardless of it's sound quality anyway since I play games more than listen to music on the pc. Still I was expecting it to sound a good deal better than the sblive.

Ah well. Cant have everything

Personally, I found my Audigy 2 to smooth out treble harshness in the Live (even though the latter is rolled-off, go figure). The card sounds more reserved than better cards that aren't embarrassed to let it all (esp. treble) hang out, so in this respect may be disappointing for upgraders.

For ease of listening and gaming performance, I'm happy with my Audigy 2. I use other sources for music.

Yeah sounds bad in terms of sound quality. It doesnt hiss, crackle, pop or anything like that.

But then I dont listen directly to the headphones out, I have it connected to a 2 ch amp

and using a low line level.

I find that the bass is boomy and overdone (have to eq the bass down) with the Audigy 2 zs. The treble is cleaner with the Audigy. Overall better but not by much.

Im using speakers/amp that are waaay better than any PC/thx/7.1 speaker there are.

Yeah I'm happy using the audigy primary for gaming too.

I don't know how high your expectations were, but for a gamer's sound card I found my Audigy 2 to sound quite a bit better than my old Live. It's most probably no M-audio (haven't heard them), but I found it to have especially smoother overall sound and crisper treble. If you're just going to get one card for both gaming and some music, I still think it's the best option.

I havent heard the M-audio either. I guess I'm spoilt by my hifi system hehe.

Well I've heard there's something called loan-sharks

But I recall my waiting for months for the M-audio Revo to be released, hoping it would live up to the "gamer's soundcard with audiophile sound" hype. How sorry was I when the reviews started to appear saying it has no hardware support for games, buggy drivers for a whole bunch of games etc etc. Oh well, at least I saved like $15 on the Audigy 2 when I got it compared to a couple of months earlier.
