I think Whazzzup partially answered your question.

My understanding (from reading some discussion earlier in the thread) is that they are essentially idenitical. C denotes the international version (warranty wise & internal power jumper will be set for the appropriate territory) whereas the 'regular' A8 is the Japanese model.

Only other difference I'm aware of is the colour of the side panels. May have got this the wrong way round but I think HP-A8 has silver and A8-C black, although I believe the glass front panel still reads as HP-A8 on both models.

Thanks man

ellipsoid is difficult to find but in north america you get the HP a8 black version. other locals get the C for their ps variances

Thank you

Looking to finally get this for my Beyerdynamic Tesla T1

If anyone in the UK is interested in an HP-A8C I will be adding one to the for sale section in the next couple of days. This has served me well but I have upgraded and cannot justify keeping it.

Cheers.

sorry to see you go, well not really :) i have kept my A8 to run exclusively la900 full mod, and added Hugo TT and soon GSX MK2 to run hd800S. what are you powering th900 now if you kept them?

I may not be going just yet. Once my wife has a chance to take a few pictures for me I will list it on here and on eBay and see what happens. I am not sure how much interest there will be here in the UK

I love the Fostex DAC and have been using it as a DAC only. I have two amps. The Schiit Valhalla 2 for my HD800's and the Audio-gd SA-31 for the TH900s. I found the sound to be a little more toe tapping.

I fell in love with the Chord DACs but the TT is out of my budget. I was going to save up for 2qute but a NAD C510 came up as an open box sale on eBay so I jumped at it. I like that it is another British company that do not use off the shelf chips.

Cheers.

My headphones are an HD650 a x2 a PM-3,and planning to buy an Audeze LCD-2 will it work? or I'll have to think in an external amp? I can't find enough information about this dac/anp over the Internet...

I don't own audez or HD 650 but hpa8 is good for efficient headphones, like th900 is what it's designed for. Now it's a fine dac amp and will drive lots of different hp but in the 500-600 $ is good value but you can only power so much. Both marantz and a8 will do in a pinch. I can't say which is better, but they are not 1-4 watt power wonders.
