Well I am not trying to push it or anything, its just one they had on hand that they suggested would pair well. I really wanted to like the Conductor, I am from Melbourne (where it is made) so its easy for me to get it. I have a feeling its more to do with its dac than the amp, it was just lacking a bit mainly in the vocals. Maybe the BB dac module would do better. Once I had heard the Auralic I just couldn't get myself to buy it, needed more time. Was just joking about the fazor.

Ah no problem, just wanted to state my opinion on HA4. I forgot it existed :)) . Forgot to add before. Fazors have nothing to do with the amplifier, The fazor improves the instrument separation and imaging. This leads to some other improvements. If the instruments are better separated, the sound should be a little more faster/energetic and with better dynamics.

A good amp has tight control and that helps with instrument separation. An audeze with fazors has better instrument separation  by default and this is why they may be more forgiving.

And about conductor, I get your feelings about the dac. First it needs a better usb interface. I have the Audiobyte hydra-x and makes the sound more natural including the vocals. With a good usb interface it sounds good.

However, they really need to update their dac / create another one . The technology and market in this department evolved a lot lately and I see no movements in their court.

If i would have to buy it now I would go with Burson Soloist and I would get another DAC.

Based on my audition (which I think would be the same shop), I myself prefer Burson Soloist over Auralic amp (particularly with LCD range and HD800). And Auralic DAC was the one that I prefer more than any other dac at the shop.

I might end up getting the Burson because I can't see anything better in that price range. Pitty they didn't have the NFB-27, would have liked to compare it.
I also listened to the HD800 as well but every time I listen to it together with LCD3, it is always lacking bass and sounds thin in comparison. I heard it at the Melb Audio Show on the Liquid Glass and really liked it there though. The Conductor had very good dynamics (probably better than the Auralic) and very good bass (same as the Auralic) but the vocals just were not as good to me, not to say it was bad though. It was only when I compared the two that I noticed it and it was not as obvious on the LCD3 with fazor. Might have to go and do some more auditioning. Other option is to stick with the NFB15 and see if there is a new model coming, they need to do DSD and maybe balanced soon.

Having recently purchased a pair of Audeze LCD-3s I have been watching this thread closely but I am still not clear.

My pair has a serial number that starts with 261, with a date of 12/29/13.  How do I know for certain if these have Fazor technology?

We believe you do not. It appears that those with Fazor start with serial number 271. They would also feel different if you run your fingers down the material on the inside of the cup.....more lumpy....but if you haven't got one to compare it against, its hard to be sure!

If it very probable that it doesn't have the Fazor since it starts with 261

You can email Audeze your serial number and they can tell you.

And please tell us the result. It's only a speculation of ours that 271 = fazor. Audez'e have not confirmed...

Had another audition of the Burson Conductor today. The issues I was having with the vocals doesn't happen on the fazor LCD3, it may have been an issue with their demo units. It wasn't fair to compare it to a $6.5k Auralic too, ended up buying it this time. So I have another shiny new toy to play with now. Sounding great so far, straight out of the box. The Tenor driver is behaving itself too on Win8.1/64, no clicks. Can't detect any vocal problems on this new unit.

Also had a quick listen to the LCD-XC for the first time, very nice indeed, doesn't sound closed at all and looks great.
