I'm so far looking at headphones (nothing over $250) and deciding on which headphones to buy. Currently I feel like ATH-M50 seems to be the best choice since it seems like a well balanced headphone. However, I know they are Monitor headphones which means that it might not sound as tasty as a flavor headphone when listening to indie/rock music like Pink Floyd. So... what is the best headphone out there to listen to Pink Floyd?

You want something warm with a good sound stage because PF plays with a lot of fun channel placement. Don't get an M50. Not for music.

Suggestions:

Panasonic RP-HTF600 with Velour Pads
Beyer DT990 PRO
Fischer Audio FA-011
Denon D2000 (used)
Ultrasone HFI 2400

Very best,

If you've never felt the power of PF from a subwhoofer, you'll miss feeling bass hit your chest in gentle rising and dropping fashion. Sound stage is a big deal for PF. But so is bass. They were not shy about it. If you agree, be careful selecting an AKG/Grado, as they may not give that to you.

Very best,

What source are you going to be plugging your cans (headphones) into?
If you get a low cost single tube headphone amplifier, it should improve the sound of any set of cans.
On eBay they sell single tube headphone amplifier for as little as $50, ships from china.
Tube amplifiers add "warmth" and "soul" to music.

Using my Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 250-Ohm headphones right now, listening to Learning to Fly.
