hello head-fi!
I have been lurking here for months and this forum has had me thinking of headphones as a necessity.

I was given a gift card from best buy and want to use it to purchase the best iems in my price range. roughly ($80-$120). I already purchased the klipsch s4's, which I will be returning today for something more satisfying.

My current candidates are the phiaton ps200 and the shure se215.

My music preferences: trance, hip-hop, opera, classical.

I am not a bass head, but i don't want to miss out on anything in the lower end.

These will be my only iem's for a while and would like something to complement my ah-d2000's coming in.

What did you not like about the Klipsch S4? Between those and the Etymotics, the Klispch is less clear, and had more bass. If you want clarity and accuracy, go for one of the Etymotic Hf or Mc series headphones. I though they sounded bassless at first, but the clarity and accuracy they have has led me to prefer them over many others that sound artificial with too much bass and not enough clarity.

agreed, i decided to go with the ps200's and just use them with the FiiO E7 amp. I am very happy with this decision. I was happy with the s4's at first but as the days went on i discovered that due to the substantial lack of clarity, the Klipsch's had me wanting something totally different.
