His terms are "service first, payment later" which is what he demanded when you sent him the Merlin, before receiving any payment.

and now you are paying him for postage BEFORE he posts something back to you, did he even pay you for the postage of sending the Merlins to him? What the hell is wrong with you.

$30 to see the return of his $400 customs. I don't see any other choice as he has no other recourse.

No. 0 cents

What city in canada? Maybe some head-fi'er could come and take these off from the buyer, someone with a high rating, at least I would feel safer if I was in such a position. Or someone neutral to hold on to the buyers money if you do agree on something.

Make note in diary: never send stuff before it's paid.

I'll try that if he warms up again... this guy needs some sweet talking

now he's giving me the cold shoulder for asking for payment

NO, HE CAN SEND YOU BACK YOUR MERLIN FIRST, AND THEN YOU CAN PAY HIM FOR POSTAGE AFTER.

You are being stupid.

Singapore is a small place, go to the singapore audiophile forums and ask for help there.

Right, that's worked so well thus far!

I do agree that the buyer needs to be "outed" here as it's obviously a game to him. Let's see how he feels about it with his name and address spilled in this forum, or in a blog, for example.

^yes that

My husband was ripped-off on a COD for a laptop. Buyer was in Ohio and we lived in Lake Tahoe. The deal was valued at ~$4K. Called the local PD and they actually made a call (unanswered) and visited the guy's home, but he denied it and there was little else they could do. Understand that the COD cashier's check was bogus!

My husband (retired military) booked a flight on miles, rented a car and dropped by his place of employment for an explanation and return of the laptop or payment. The buyer was a lot more forthcoming, but it was obvious that he lacked the means to pay the debt. The buyer agreed to allow my husband to follow him to his home for the return of the laptop.

Barring access to a 6'4" 250lb SEAL, I think you need to risk the 50SGD and ask for the return of your customs.

I think he would like to send it back too, if I send the money now..

but I'm still upset about it

Never mind, cased closed

(unless he still refuse respond to pm)

Let this be a lesson to future sellers:

always collect payment first, or else they'll play punk with you

Great story with a happy ending, the next time I get ripped off I will do that too.

Edit: A head-fi user in Virginia stole my ATH-CK10's, he had 2000+ posts and +11 feedback, he explicity wrote we should trade on "mutual trust" and so on, I also bought a LOD from him with "gift" payment on paypal, never saw the LOD either.

He has thousands of dollars worth of equipment, he had no need to steal my CK10's, *snip*

That's why you gotta pay first before getting your hamburger at maccas. Since when does payment go after delivery?

So you're saying for every single trade we do on head-fi we should exchange funds in two directions with expensive paypal fees on top?

Yeah, ok.

I always sell/buy with paypal fees included. That way scams are prevented.
