In what way are the vocals ear-piercing ? i never experienced this ,maybe they do not gel well with the amp you are using , in fact they really do not need amping at all ,they go very loud even out of my ipod classic 7th gen with its limited European volume, over time the mid range and treble will become crystal clear and in now way be harsh

agreed here with luco too - never had the 1XB's pierce me in my ears = if you think that's hurting your ears, wait until you try:
-Denon 710's
-EX500
-EX700 = LOOOL - it hurts o rite

Try different fits, comply etc tips bloat the bass even more, thus why i don't have them - i just use stock tips, would like to look into something like the sony hybrids - i think that would be good

Well, They only hurt my ears right out of the box with only 2 or 3 hours on them. ~50hrs in, they sound like a different set of IEM's all together. They are becoming much more clear in the high's and the bass is calming down a bit. They are becoming very pleasant to listen to now. That is why I was making sure to note that those were just initial thoughts during break-in, and that they weren't broken in yet. As far as the amp's, at first, the amp was just too much for them. I know the specs on the box say "30mW" but at this point, they sound much better amped (imo).

amped seriously?
If i amped these i would be deaf - if i'm not already lol :p
In terms of out the box, they hurt my ears in bass quantity lol, but not hurt my ears for anything else.
In other words my head couldn't handle the bass :D

My suggestion is leave them on their own for a day - without listening or them being burned-in  = for some reason they got very nice and "stable" when they weren't being used :)

Glad you are enjoying them!

Again if anyone wants to listen to the 1V's just PM me, but you guys have to pay for postage.

I haven't heard TFTA IEMs but I suspect after burn-in, there should be no piercing highs and actually less fatigue as this is what the Thin Film driver is supposed to achieve. Another manufacturer, Future Sonics, has been using Thin Film for a long time and achieve the deepest of sub-bass and reduced listener fatigue.

I wonder how TFTA compare to Future Sonics. Anyone got a comparison?

Well, I'm not really amping them for more power, just better sound. They sound better at the same volume level coming from an (at least from mine) amp as opposed to my ipod touch 4g, or my laptop, especially when a better DAC is involved. I can go a little higher on the output, but I haven't much because they are aready loud with no amp, as you pointed out.

Yo! 1XB crew:
Put this song on your phone/mp3/PC etc, and listen to the bass - god its lovely!
If you are not in that type of music, sorry, but its for the bass lol. And if you are into that type of music, then i salute you as so am I :)

EDIT:
Also one more thing, please guys post your "reviews" vs other earphones - I would love to know what you think - be honest and be to the point, it will also help people understand what these earphones offer/or don't.

For me: They are the best set of earphones I've heard and used - I absolutely love them + the customer service (Paul @RMX) is just excellent.
Can't give these beauties any flaws - really found my set of earphones, and will be recommending them to everyone I know/ask about earphones within the £100 range or even the under £300 range!

These are sounding better and better. I really need to get some better tips though. None of the stock ones would fit correctly or comfortably. I have issues with them becoming "vacuumed" in my ear if thats the right word and almost completely cuts out the the sound. I cant get the right seal to save my life. I have to try about 10 times before I will get a good fit. I'm using the small tips from a cheap $10 set of jvc iem's and they are a little better, but still give the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

sony hybrids?
In terms of fit, they fit perfectly in my ear - as in they aren't big earphones etc.
Compare these to the se535's and W2's which were much more trickier to find a fit.

EDIT:
Oh I now know what you are talking about!
No dude you are pressing them too far in, or they are getting stuck within your ear canal - thus the vacuum effect

Hey Totally Dubbed,

You mentioned that the nozzle size is different for the 1V and XB.
This made me wonder whether I can reuse my existing tips.

Is either the 1V or XB compatible with the most wide-spread tips,
the ones used by Denon, Sennheiser, Sony, UE TF10 etc?

that's a good question!
Well 1V's have a much larger nozzle - (see pictures)
Basically the 1V's will hav ea struggle putting on old tips - ie. TX-400's and will "ruin" the diameter of the old tips - so bear that in mind.
The 1XB's have a more normal if not a little smaller diameter than your ordinary TX-400's (comply tips im talking about - standard size for MTPG and denon)

The xb version has the standard large nozzle ,so tips from senn ie7/8 ,tf10 ,denon ,monster golds/copper ,hje900 etc fit perfectly on them

I'm curious to know how the 3v2b's bass holds up against the IE8, FX700, and DDM2, my all time favorite bass-heavy in-ears. Anyone here happen to own any of the aforementioned, in addition to the 3v2b's?
