I'm planning a purchase, to get a set of cans I'd love to listen to day and night for years.  After an ungodly amount of research and objective/subjective opinion sorting, I've decided on the Sennheiser HD800s w/ ALO Audio Reference 8 balanced 6ft, now I need a solid state balanced amp and DAC.  My current setup is an HT Omega Claro Halo, FLAC rips from CDs, and the Audio Technica ATH-M50.  Even though they're monitors, I love music through them, I really enjoy balanced frequency responses.  So, now you know what I'm coming from, make me fall in love with music all over again!

Now for music: I listen to everything in the spectrum, favorites being Skinny Puppy, Xploding Plastix, Knorkator, Infected Mushroom, a wide sweep of electronica, game music, classical, and symphonic metal.

So to reiterate, and/or elaborate: up to $1500 solid state A balanced amp that can drive the HD800s

Up to $300 DAC. USB, SP/DIF and RCA are available to me directly from my soundcard.

*Edit* a lot of things cleared up elsewhere, I've deleted questions and info that don't apply anymore.  Ignore prices, I've increased the budget (...with losses elsewhere) to allow for the Headroom BUDA and UDDAC, as a fallback, though it might be easier to just go with those for now.

How about waiting for the upcoming Schiit Balanced Dacs and Amps

Any thoughts on the Peachtree iNOVA?  On second thought, scratch that, I'd much rather have balanced operation than ease of use and small form factor.  And put tube amps back in for now, it seems what I want isn't readily available in solid state form anyway.

At your price range, the HA-160D comes to my mind. Dac/amp.

Hmm, It looks nice, but it doesn't have balanced output?

Ok, how about this: Sennheiser HD800 w ALO Audio balanced Reference 8s, Headroom BUDA/UDAC/power supply, Gutwire B-16 IEC cord for the power supply, and a Kimber USB interconnect.  Now, is this setup worth the money for the sound you get out of it?  My price limit is now a definite $6000 for the whole setup.  Headphones are 1500, cable is 760, and those are concrete fixtures in the chain.

Ok, clear the board of the HD800s for a second, after reading up on the LCD-2s they sound like I'd like them better.  Add in a balanced ALO Audio Reference 8 for this question.

Now the operative question here: Will the Headroom Balanced Ultra Desktop Amp/Ultra DAC drive the LCD-2s well enough?  I'm liking the simplicity of the Headroom triple stack package, and from others' opinions, they seem to be well thought of, (and they're certainly expensive enough...) so I figure this would be a good place to start.  Thanks for any opinions on the question in advance!
