Excellent and congratulations on a great buy. I'm a bit jealous now .

You didn't think that price was in USD did you?
so i ran over my ie 8. it was a very sad moment.
What i thought was going to happen
i was going to send them off to sennheiser expecting to pay the 200$ flat fee for the replacement headphones and get a new pair in a week or two.
What actually happened
I got a pair of IE80 for free, but it took about month to get my headphones to my door. they were backordered on it.
i immediately put my tx400 comply tips on them. i have been using some cheap philips in ears with these tips.
I guess i have to wait for the break in periods, but i honestly like the philips more. i forgot how the ie8's sounded so i cant really make that comparison.
*twiddles thumbs*
As for the aftermarket cable, you may try the Piccolino cable mentioned on last page of this thread. It costs only a little over $1300.
I found comply tips to ruin the sound. See if you can get some good tips as it will greatly improve the sound. The complys tend to increase bass muffling the mid range and treble.
My IE80s have over 100 hours of use, but I still feel that there is grain in the treble.. My DT770/600 actually sounded less bright on music that normally would sound bright, like Rock. The DT770 sounded much cleaner. The track was Fire & Ice, by Poison.
What do you mean by grainy?
