HD600 vs HD650 - Initial Thoughts

Anyway I find the 600 vs 650 comparison interesting. I'm tempted to try a HD 600 some time and see how I like it (although I have no complaints with my 650s).

Well, I was considering a "HD650 vs HD600 | Comparison & Review" but I'm not sure too many would take interest. Especially granted I flopped too fast on the HD600, possibly making some question my accuracy to a review. Hmm, I swear the HD600 had new toy syndrome with me at first, but then I shook it off pretty fast. Who know? Both are still amazing though.

The HD 650's soundstage is like. . . twice as large lol. . .

Granted, I have HD 580's not HD 600's, but I've read this elsewhere as well - the HD 650's are supposed to have a much better soundstage. 
 
Are the pads on yours in the same condition? Have you bent the HD 650 headband?
 
I'm going to write a HD 580 vs. HD 650 review. . . the HD 580's aren't and brighter than the HD 650's to my ears. if anything, the opposite. . .

Twice as large? You've got to be kidding.
 
They are nearly identical. If not, I'd give the advantage to the HD600.
 
Both are brand new and I got the on the same day. Both headbands have been bent. (We'll not the actually headband of course). Surprisingly, the HD600's are slightly more comfortable.

I think people need to realize the HD600 is just as good as the HD650. People assume the HD650's the "upgrade" just because it has a higher number, but technically it's just another flavor of an already great headphone. Yeah, the HD650 may scale better than the HD600, but regardless of that, you'll still have your HD600 crowed that find it more pleasing than the HD650.
 
Oh, in case you didn't catch on earlier, I like the HD650 better. Both are very similar in capabilities they both just have different flavors of sound. Simply pick the one you like better.

Katun - coming from the DT880 (and really looking for a DT880 with better mids / more life) - would you still say the HD600 is the way to go rather than than the HD650?

Yeah I get it, I just don't understand the soundstage thing, completely baffling.
 
I do think the HD 650's are technically superior, not just another flavor.

Yeah, I'd say so. Vocals are more upfront and the signature is more balanced, so you should feel right at home. You may still really like the HD650, but the HD600 is a marvel all by itself, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone coming from the Beyer crowd. Besides, it's quite a bit cheaper. If I was stretching my dollars, I'd take the HD600 instead without regret.

Well, they are. But I don't think most users will notice. Unless they sell their kids to invest in an ultimate amp.

Thanks Katun - really appreciate it.  Pretty sure I'll go the HD600 route - and hopefully very soon.
