Hey Guys only found this thread after chatting with rrahman. I recently received both Miracle and Merlin Customs.
As yet i have not posted any reviews, but ill take some time now as i have a spare moment.
First The Miracle: Well from what i can hear my source is an ipod classic 7G straight out using Apple lossless, as i sit i am listening to a K2 HD mastering Lim CD of HAPPY COAT, by Shota Osabe Piano Trio, and have a smile on my face. Miracle is effortless handling Ray brown's bass runs very detailed and punchy bass, if you are worried that they might not have much bass then no need.
If it is in the recording they will produce it. I love the crisp sounds of the drums and piano sounds very natural. On recordings of say the 70's era i found they lacked the impact that the more recent albums, but that's not to fault the Miracles, as they only bring out what is fed to them.
Switching now quickly to the Merlin...Wow the Bass, hey if you are a Bass head youre gonna have a ball.
The Bass is just so Deep and so low... Kinda like putting my subs on at home as i have two SVS PB13Ultra's. The great thing is they dont muddy up the sound, just more pronounced low bass.
Not as crisp as the Merlin but me likes it very much. Ok .
I am kinda used to this sound more as coming from IE8, but at the same time Merlin's just much better.
Both do not need any amping but would be interesting with all those new set ups out there.
Spud Harris has one hell of (what he calls) portable rig, going clas into balanced dac and amp . I also have it on good authority that paired with the classic, clas & SR71B The Merlins are one mean SOB.
So there you go hope you guys get yours soon.
I hope you also enjoy your Miracles and Merlins as much as i am.
I am so happy that i bought both really, as i think they compliment each other well..
Great fun to swap around for different Genres.
Well that's just my short take on what i am enjoying right now. Admittedly i havent spent a great deal of time with them both, but i have noticed changes in sound from when i first got them, so a little burn-in will be required and after that well it's Audio Nirvana Guys.
