Even in that case, I figure there are no high current outlets as it's a computer device. That's why I never got this thinking it would restrict dynamics on amps.

I don't know. If you think there might be a difference though, the HTS-1000 is not too much more.

Etronics has the HTS-1000 for $81 + shipping:

The ad in Stereophile for another cheap seller said that the units were identical except for the silly label stickers on the outlets. The HT stickers say "amp", "TV" etc. while the PC stickers say "monitor", "printer" etc!

The ad in Stereophile is from HCM Audio, which is where I ordered the PC1000 for $60.00 + shipping and tax in my original post. I tried to find any info available on Monster's website but no success. However, from all indications, the PC1000 and the HTS1000 is one and the same, except for the labeling.

**Please see my disclaimer in original post**

The only Monster product I have is a surge protector used on the computer I am typing this post on. It's about 6 years old and so far, no fried computer yet.

I hate if when somebody posts a link to etronics. They are like a 5 minute walk from me and to resist is HARD.

There is another difference.....$50,000.

The PC1000 comes with a $300,000 insurance policy, while the HTS1000 has a $250,000 policy.

For people like Nik this might come in handy.

Is it just me or does audioasylum have VERY mixed reviews on this product? Half the crew seems to think that it killed the dynamics and raised the noise floor. I'm starting to think all of this is in their heads...

all the power products seem to get very mixed reviews. I am hoping for surge protection without messing up the dynamics. Even if it doesn't sound better I will be more comfortable knowing that I have some protection.

Just ordered the HTS1000 from etronics.....just to play it safe.

Well the reviews are entirely contradictory. Fully half the crew says it improved dynamics and lowered noise floor while the other half says it killed dynamics and raised the noise floor. What, is what I'm thinking...I think I'll save my money for new speakers and an amp.

I guess it's divided by those whos AC power was really bad and there was improvement and those whose AC power was better than average and they felt it did more harm than good. *shrug*.
