Hello everyone,

I'm using Audiophile 2496 audio card which doesn't have a stereo jack output (only RCA and S/PDIF outputs), and about to buy AKG K-240 headphones.

I'm looking for a low-latency device to connect the audio card to the headphones, without losing the 24-bit/96kHz quality of the audio card. Low latency is required for midi application.

Does it make any difference whether the device input is USB, RCA or S/PDIF?
Is this preamp should work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The amp is a Phono amp so the answer is NO!
A phono amp not only amplifies but also works as an equalizer to boost the bass (RIAA curve)
If the source is not a turntable you will get an overloud bass
If you are happy with the M-audio, look for a headphone amp with RCA input.

Thank you for the answer.
Unfortunately I didn't find any headphone amps with RCA input. Concerning the USB inferfaces, the only thing I found which isn't 16bit/48kHz is NI Guitar Rig Mobile that costs 165 USD in my country (twice than I'm willing to pay).

If anyone can post a link to either headphone amp with RCA input or USB interface of 24-bit/96kHz I will be very greatful.
If it's possible to build an amp (RCA to Stereo Jack) from an old speakers or from anything else it would be great for me.

Thanks.

Those that use 3.5 plugs and not RCA, you can use a RCA to 3.5 cables.

Indeed all you need is a headphone amp (either accepting RCA directly or 3.5mm doesn't matter), since you can always buy a RCA to 3.5mm cable to connect to the 3.5mm input accepted by most of the cheaper headamps.

Thank you all.

Fiio E9 accepts RCA to 3.5

Actually, it has an RCA and stereo jack output. Only 3.5mm input. Thanks to you, I found Fiio E5 and E11 headphone amps.

The amp will be used with Audiophile 2496 audio card as an input and with AKG K-240 headphones as an output.
For this usage, how will I benefit more from the E11 than the E5? Do you think the E11 worth paying more than thrice of the E5 price?

Thanks.
