Your pictures are MUCH nicer than mine.  Your second picture could easily be a marketing photograph.  Which camera'd you use?

My old point and shoot was actually oddly better than my current one.  Old Sony with Zeiss optics, used to use rechargeable AA batteries, but it started draining the batteries (even brand new ones) within an hour of use, so I got rid of the camera.  My current one is borrowed from a family member.  Low-end Canon, mainly designed for pocketability.

I'm thinking of grabbing a Sony NEX-5N.  Got good reviews on the dpreview website.

Both of your amps look awesome.  You have a pretty nice setup.

Pretty sure I didn't use my Canon P&S when I took those.  It was most likely my Canon 7D.

yeah I don't know what it is with the earlier digital P&S cameras?  They just seemed to take a better picture in general.
I had an old 2MP Fuji that could easily and consistently take better shots than many of today's pocket cameras.
Sadly mine too suffered a similar fate as yours did.

I'm considering either a Pentax K-30 or a Nikon D3200. I'm leaning towards the Pentax.

10 hours in on the Siemens Platinum's (yeah they're just babies at this point) but I'm already extremely pleased with them!

They really are the ideal tube for the LF and LCD3.
Silky smooth mids, nicely rounded bottom end, and a very sweet yet detailed top end.  Oh and that 3D like imaging... yummy!

As much as I like the Telefunken's, I'm definitely preferring the Siemens and that's saying A LOT considering they are currently nowhere near being worked in yet.

I hate point and shoot cameras.  I really need to spring for a new one.

Beauty!

Sometimes it's easier to get a nice shot with a point and shoot than with a DSLR.
Just depends.....

Here's a couple I took of my Phonitor (and yes the LF's in there too).

Nice looking setup!

Glad to hear! Last week I popped my Gold Lions back in and it's hard to go back to them after hearing the Siemens E88CC tubes....that and one of the Gold Lions went sour on me.

You can't go wrong with a 7D. I've had one for a while, and currently is the best bang for the buck as far as performant APS-C cameras go. However, add a good lens and you're close to $2k. FWIW, the NEX-5N, which I also had, has the best image quality among mirrorless cameras, but is plagued by issues of its own, such as slow focus. I had one for a few months and with a toddler in the house I had more misses than hits. My 5DIII was really good, but bulky, so I traded down to another mirrorless, the Olympus E-M5, which has very fast focus. Sorry for the long off-topic post.

You wouldn't happen to have a higher-resolution version of this picture, would you?  If so, I think I just found my new desktop wallpaper.

(Assuming that's okay with you, of course...)

I'm pretty sure I do.
Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it over to you

Who buys a 7D and just uses the stock lens ???
Canon L glass is the only way to go with a camera like this

(well with a couple of exceptions).

Photography is similar to high end audio...... PRICE BE DAMNED!

I just hit the 100 hour mark with my Siemens Platinums and I am very happy with all the characteristics you point out.  Again, thanks to all who pointed me in this direction.
