Hello everyone.

Wishing to purchase a headphone under 250$, I'd like the best compromise for comfort. Feel free to submit other models i would not have quoted above. I tried the Sennheiser HD 598 and it does not suit me. For PC - Asus Xonar DS

In advance, thank you.

I always find Beyerdynamic's headphones very comfortable (DT990 in particular, seems to be somewhat lighter than DT880) and I can wear my Alessandro MS1000 all day and night without comfortissues too.

Grado

Seriously, adjust the pressure and make sure your not going to pull on the cord. 8 hours without problem.

beyer is good, kinda heavy

AKG are good also, but I gripe at the pads

AD series are nice, but the big pad on the ear with the horrid material is a let down.

I favor my Senn HD598, I wear for about 6 hours a day without a problem. V6 are next and my custom T50RP.

AKG K601 is one of the most comfortable headphones I've tried. Got mine for $188. Not sure of it's current price. $230 or so last I checked.

Used D2000 is also good.

Heya,

What kind of sound are you looking for?

Between a DT990, K701 and my SRH940, the SRH940 is the more comfortable headphone to me. And easily sounds better too.

Very best,

I find Audio technica headphones to be comfy. I've tried the AD700's, AD900's and A900's. They are lightweight, and the clamp force is minimal.

Denon d2000 and audio technica ad700 have been the most comfy for me
So far, even compared to some beyers and sennheisers. D2000 would be a 9/10 short term comfort and 7/10 long term comfort, while ad700 would be a 8/10 short and long term comfort. DT990 would be about a 7/10 for both short and long term, while hd598 a 7/10 short and I'm assuming 6/10 long term. (I only listened for about 10 minutes in a store, but could tell the clamp would eventually get to me.)

The xonar DS whilst a great budget card that does have an adequate headphone amp really isn't the greatest of beasts to drive many headphones probably not even as good as a xonar dx truth be told.
It's a shame you couldn't have tried the HD598 through a more powerful source you need to be looking at low impedance really or get an e7 e11 e9 as well as new cans.

DT880, AKG K702, D2000, HFI2400 and XB1000.

First, forgive my English. Also, i have no budget to buy a more powerful source, for now. So i did not criticize the audio quality of HD 598 but the comfort, it is not suitable for my head. Compared to my audio, i should direct me to a low ohm version as DT880 32 Ohm.

Low impedance beyers, that's probably what I would go for. The Grados are nice and lightweight, maybe if you get a pair of sr60s or 80s and quarter mod the pads, good SQ and good comfort :)

Easily sounds better?  Very few headphones discussed here in the same price range are actually better.  It depends on your priorities.  I mean the 940 certainly isn't better if you want a big soundstage right?  Or slamminn bass?
