Re: 32/64 RAM - Thanks for noticing this! It'll be important when my Tarkan adaptors arrive; I've got a choice of motherboards to test with.

Re: juwel1998 - Yes, click wheels are interchangeable between 5G and 5.5G. Often click wheel issues are actually motherboard issues, though (that's the case on one of mine, at least - swapping the click wheel doesn't fix the problem).

Re: ThinWalls - Thanks for confirming that it's Type II. That means I'll buy my own Type-I adaptors here in Taiwan instead. I successfully formatted an iPod with a 256GB Transcend card inside a Type I SD to CF, then CF-IDE adaptor in my iPod Photo.
The adaptor I used is the

I didn't have time to try syncing tracks, but iTunes and the iPod were both happy with it having 241GB formatted capacity. That's certainly more than 128GB.
I'm also hoping to test a dual microSD to CF type I adaptor, which might offer even greater capacities. I've bought the adaptor, but I need to get permission to visit the factory downstairs again to borrow some big microSD cards. Unfortunately we're not manufacturing any 512GB cards as far as I'm aware, so I've got to find a friendly store to let me test that. Maybe I'll head to Taipei this weekend, and drop into the electronics market there. I also want to find a store where I can borrow the new SanDisk 200GB microSD card for testing.

I have a feeling like there's a difference in SD-CF adaptor compatibility for 4/4.5G iPods with CF-IDE adaptors, and 5/5.5G iPods with Tarkan adaptors. I already have a similar adaptor to Tarkan's for my 5G, but it isn't working with the adaptor above. I'll buy one of the "6G" SD-CF adaptors and test with that next!

High Capacity 1900mAh Ebay 5th gen Bigger Battery Test:

There were a few posts earlier about the larger batteries for the 5th gen.

I just finished testing the 1900mAh 5g $26.00 fat case ebay version.

It ran for 70hrs on medium using the 1 song playlist method on my 256gb SDXC.

YMMV

How did you get the 1900mah battery to fit with the sdxc card? (You might have answered that already back somewhere in the thread, I realise!).

So you are saying there are type 1 adaptors that work, but only with the 4/4.5G ipods, not with the later ones?

If so, I'm guessing there's probably an explanation for that somewhere in what Tarkan has said about the topic on his site (some of this goes whizzing over my head on first reading).
I really do want to find a thin type-1 adaptor that will work in the 5/6/7 gen!

I'm surprised there is a problem with an SDXC-CF adapter that works in a 4/4.5G iPod not working in a 5G iPod. As I understand it, the original issue was that early adapters didn't support true IDE mode which was required by the iPod firmware.

I suppose it's possible that older 4G iPods want less from the IDE mode (lower UDMA level, maybe) than the 5G and that that is the issue.

No wonder I prefer working on iPod minis...

Yes you can do format to 256GB but cant sync more than 128GB, iPod crashes after 128GB of synced music... I tried with several adapters, format to 256GB is ok with every adapter but sync cant be done to more than 128GB... Problem is in firmware of adapter.. Only Tarkans adapter can sync more than 128GB.... I asked Tarkan when he will make Type I adapter with 256GB support and his answer is "Well I am always working new things, and once I feel I have a product which meets my high standards then I will launch it. :) regards, Tarkan"

on a 7G Classic, just tried fitting the SDXC iFlash bundle with the 2000mah battery and it's a very tight fit but never the less was able to shut it closed and works great.

Yes.
Shaved it down and Dremel away.
Take your time and be careful.

I don't advise it, if you really mind loosing your $18 adapter on accident.

It was a true hack of the adapter and memory card.

The first time it failed me.

Yes, that was my experience with two different adaptors!  Pretty frustrating given how long it takes to get to the 128gb point where it falls over!
Meanwhile rgarjr has apparently managed to get the big battery in with a type 2 adaptor, so now I'm really confused (I thought nobody had managed to do that, except by leaving the case slightly ajar?).
