The more I listen to these, the more I like them.

I compared them to my Westone 4's last night and I have to say that for me I really do think that for me they are the best iem's in my possession.

I am now going to put up the rest of collection for sale apart from the clarity ones, which are great for phone use, and the GR10 - which are strangely addictive :-)

As a universal iem these do it for me, the only future purchase I can see me making is for  some customs.

I think its bye bye to the IE8, Westone 4, UM3x, Shure Se535, ER4P, Triple Fi 10's and UE 600's as a way of funding the customs.

By the way as an experiment I tried the Sennheiser IE8's double flange tips, and these are a great combination!

As are the Vsonic biflanges IMO.

I bit the bullet and bought a pair of these a few minutes ago. Upgrading from a pair of "unimpressive" (as one person put it) Creative EP-640, I hope these will be all I expect them to be. I'll be using them with a Zune 120.

I also purchased these earlier today and I can't wait to get my hands (and ears) on them.
I looked around a fair bit and it was a toss up between these & the GR07's and I was really torn but after reading through both "Appreciation" threads...  opted for the FXT90's.

I now await their arrival and I'm actually pretty excited.

Welcome to the club ;)

I was in the same boat (GR07 vs FXT90) and made the same decision, mainly because the relative neutrality of the GR07s didn't really appeal to me.  I also am not a fan of the VSonic's looks.  (Even fans have to admit those black plastic squares are kinda uggers...!)

I'm happy to report that rumours of the FXT90's sound changing significantly with burn-in are not unfounded.  I have approximately 40 hours of burn-in on mine, with maybe 8-10 hours total listening time, and they are sounding smoother, warmer and somewhat more balanced than they did initially.  (Last night I could have sworn the bass has actually gotten BIGGER with burn-in...)  Overall, while I can still detect the harsh tones that bothered me at first, it feels like other more pleasant elements of the sound signature have become more prominent, so the harshness is much less noticeable.  (I'm still hoping it goes away entirely, but could easily live with these headphones as they are now.)

Long story short, I'm enjoying these more and more every day.  And the amazing imaging and separation these offer never gets old.  For my money, this iem offers a near perfect blend of analytical and musical: you can hear everything that's going on in a track very distinctly (very 3D), but with the slightly hyped, musical tonal character of a good home stereo.

Just don't panic if you find they sound harsh out of the box--that will change.

Some high praise!  I sold off my more expensive phones after getting these too.

It's the first set of iem's that I've had where I haven't been tempted to switch backwards and forwards between all the others.

I do realize that there are "technically" better ones around, but my ears love these.  My wallet is pretty grateful too

I got my box deal $8.99 Monster gel and foam hybrid samplers. I didn't know that Monster reshaped the gels to be more oval shape than the ball shape of the original ones. These gels fit much much better!! I'm using the small/medium gels, and the isolation and sound are both great. The FXT90 just likes so many tips. I'm going to try the small gels next.. I already know the effects of the foam hybrids.... Here's to Monster.

Mine came in today!

No driver flex with the stock small tips. But the right earpiece seems to have some residual glue on the seam. Possible artifact of poor quality control or I potentially got a used pair? Bought from AccessoryJack. Opinions, please?

Strings sound absolutely fantabulous though! Never knew I was missing so much with my RE-0's.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I do feel they are a bit harsh.

Agree with your assessment popejohnlarue. Mine had close to 100 hours on it and it really smoothed out.

They will smooth out to a point but you're right, they are harsh and if that really bright treble is not for you then you will probably be disappointed with the overall sound. A lot of head-fiers seem to go for that though so YMMV.

The bright treble was one of the reasons I kept the FX700 over the FXT90. I find the FX700 to have the right amount of treble for my tastes.
