The T70 is definitely far better than the DT990! The resolution of the T70 is in a much better league. The only thing I can think of where the DT990 is "better" is in bass impact if that is what you are looking for. The T70 beats the DT990 in every other way if you ask me and I do prefer the tight and punchy bass of the T70 by far.

I have to agree, for me the T70 could use some more bass impact though.
As I'm not using my T70 at all, I'm thinking of selling it actually

What amplifier are you using? I get plenty of bass response and even deep bass from the Concerto. But the bass is not impactful like the HD650 for instance. I have no problem with that at all and it is a matter of getting used to it. For me it reminds me of when I first gor the Etymotic ER-4S. After getting used to the bass also not having huge impact the sound is crystal clear and amazing in so many other ways.

I've tried all my amps, it's just the nature of the headphone vs my personal preference (hd650/LCD-2 bass).
It's a great headphone, just not for me :)

Well then, i'll be going for the T70p's used. And the only reason i even asked the question was because the T70 is just out and so i thought it could be a little overpriced..... And anyways, i can always EQ the headphones a little to get a little bit more bass. Also, the T70's should be considerably better than the HD555's in the bass department right? (quantity wise though, it's obvious they'll be much better at everything else) Cause the HD555's bass-less response is really getting to me......

heard of both finally, from the Hong Kong hifi show.  i mostly listen to t70p because the t70 was using classical music although i was amping it with beyer a1.  decent enough though.  for t70p, i listen to 2 and a half songs and my impression was, i feel like a very good dt770(32ohm 2005 version) with a touch of tesla sound.  not t5p good though.  not open and airy enough.  lighter than a t5p but not isolate as well too.  one more thing, i got to the show early and the beyer guys told me they just got those headphones(both t70 and t70p) so they need some break-in/burn-in(yea there i said it, for those who don't believe in burn-in, shoot me)

Thanks, this is what I was looking for.

Ok, so T5p still has the title, back to waitng for the TH900...

Oh man.... I'm being tempted by the T70 from amazon.com!!! It's only $375 right now!!!!

Should I pull the trigger?

It's going to be a big jump for me from ATH M50.

That is a good price. I agree to what Grado77 said - buy it now!

Man... Can no longer hold myself and pulled the trigger. I hope I won’t regret it.

Does anyone have an experience combining it with FIIO E17?

If you let them burn in and let your ears get used to their sound it can be the best headphone you can get. In the beginning I thought they lacked some bass impact but once you adapt to that they lack nothing else to my ears.

You all might be interested in this CSD graph of the T70p Purrin just posted.  Not all that great...

I'm very seriously thinking of picking up a pair. I have an almost DT1350 that I love except for discomfort when wearing glasses. I will sell those and maybe an amp and pick up the T70 as long as I can get enough sound pressure from an iPod nano 7G with them as I don't like carrying amps on crowded trains and these will be my portable headphones in early autumn to late spring. I've also enjoyed the T5P, but not sure about the price. There is a sale going on here right now where I can get used T70 and T5P for comparatively small amounts of dosh. I will of course review these.

But, if anyone knows me, they know I'm a fan of the DT880 600Ω and ES10, CK10 and their ilk, so bass quantity isn't a priority for me.
