quick question for people using a ipod/iphone line out dock | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

I'm using a Fiio L3 on my iPhone 4. When the L3 wiggles a little in the dock/terminal of the iPhone 4, it gives me static like distortion to whatever I'm listening to. I just noticed it recently - I'm usually not walking around with my stuff, but when I am, it's really annoying to get that static/distortion from the dock - is this behavior normal? Just want to make sure my dock isn't damaged. Thanks in advance.

edit: bah, so i double checked to make sure the problem wasn't with my iphone - it's not. my ipad gives the same result when the L3 slightly wiggles. the slightest movement of the dock causes distortion.

can anyone recommend a better made line out dock that doesn't wiggle and distort the signal? i don't need anything with magic silver threads woven by elven smiths. just something of quality that doesn't wiggle around and distort my sound.

I've been using this cable from Head-Direct for the past year. (Grado 125i's with iBasso D4 Mamba)

Around 30 bucks and I've had no complaints about it so far. Just guessed that you might want to stay under the 50 dollar range.

thanks for the recommendation - i'll check it out. i've got no problems paying 50-100 bucks as long as the connection is solid and lasts a long time under normal usage.

No this is not normal. It means one of the 2 teeth on the sides of the dock connector are not sticking out far enough to lock it in. My first L3 did this and I returned it for a replacement. The replacement locks in place and does not wiggle. If you just got it, I'd contact the seller for a replacement.
