Most people say that Denon are, hold it, a waste of money. For $250~ headphones, you can get better with a lot of goof headphones running $100 and under. I would turn to my Signature for any good headphones IMO

are you saying that Sr80s and V6's are better than Denon ah d2000s?

Ive never heard the d2000s myself.  but have heard the grados and the sony's a lot.  Im just not sure what to think.  Sure those two are good headphones for the money.  But better than the Denons?  Really???  A lot of people seem to like the Denons if they like bass.

Cheapest I see now is on eBay for $265.  You can also watch the For Sale forum and wait for one to pop up.

From what I've read the listing price is a bit much for its stock performance. However, they're also a headphone that, according to many, see a huge improvement after some inexpensive modding(markl mod).

I think the Denon D2000 is a great can for rock music, but whether they are worth the money .....hmmm, guess you have to decide for yourself.

Just for info, the retail price of Denon D2000 here in Denmark is $520 !! (Which is app. the same as for the Grado SR325is).

I've heard the complete opposite, personally. That the D2000's are one of the most bang for your buck phones there are, if you like them a little heavier on the bass-side.

Oh, and as you said - in your opinion. Headphones are very much based on personal preference, so giving him your signature as advice to buy is not doing much.
He'll have to listen or read up on them and get his own opinion. Cause your opinion might very much be worthless. As mine and the next guys.

IMO, the Denons are a great value. Especially for the price you get them for in the US.
Here in Sweden, they're about 490 bucks. But then, buying headphones here in sweden (or well, mostly everything) is really expensive. (Thank god i didn't buy them here.)

Anyone know how the D2000 compare to the higher-end D5000 and D7000s?  I tried out some D7000s yesterday and loved them.  I really want to get a pair of Denons now, but I'm not sure if the higher-end ones are worth the rather large markup they have over the lower-end model since I've never heard them before.

Don't agree. I have the Denon 5000's and the Grado SR125i's. I much prefer the Denon's, but then so I should for the extra price. However I really don't think they are a waste of money at all. I'm loving them!

i wonder who "most people" is to him, as he's the only one i've ever heard say denon's are a waste of money.

It's definitely not uncommon to see some say denon doesn't offer a very good bang-for-your-buck,  and I'd probably agree.  I assume he just interpreted that as 'a waste of money'.
