My ECCI PR200s arrived in the post today, and I was wondering what the general consensus of head-fi is over storing earphones? I've seen various techniques online but then naysayers saying that x and y damage the cable, shortening their lifespan (My IEMs always die at the 3.5mm jack end).

Since as I want to start moving up into better quality ones (RE0s next), I can't afford to shell out regularly for them, but my usage is about an hour a day 5 days a week (commuting - yay!) and so need to maximise their good condition as best I can.

That's probably one of the best ways out there, except I don't have hooks, nor do I want to damage the wall by putting one on.  You can also do this (as recommended by ThinkSound): http://www.thinksound.com/care.php (watch YouTube video).

How constructive, why not tell me how you store yours instead of increasing your postcount?

Not worried about post count at all...just think a waterproof/crushproof 50 dollar + otterbox is excessive.  I go tried and true...whatever case case with my headphones.  :)

When im not using them at home, I hang them over a thumbtack on my wall like the hook above..

But I place a couple tacks going straight down so the cord is perfectly straight so in the morning when I wake up the cable isnt all tangled.. then during the day I hang them around my neck instead of in my pocket

What's $50? That's a $10 otterbox.  I have the 2000 model and paid $14.95.

Must be a cell phone thing then...they are ridiculously expensive.  Glad to see you can buy cheap ones.  Still think they are overkill for headphones!  But alas, that's two people with em, so obviously someone is buying them!

This westone pelican case. Comes with a reusable desicant, ear lube (not that kind of lube), microfiber cloth, and a cleaner. The thing I like about this vs the regular pelican cases is that they include the foam casing that allows you to coil your IEM cables around the desicant. It's $30 shipped from B&H photo.
