Hi all,

well i don`t write much of text but i do read some of articles and check quite often.

Why writing this hmm mybe just to share some of things again that might some of you. Well i come on this place when it started and came also from head/wize. As long time audiophile i was hooked by headphones like anything. I`m in love in tubes from start and from my diy experiments.

Well i got involved in some audio/web marketing buissnes and got some top highend tube stuff. The designer is one of the most highly apreciated manufactuers in our country and also cross europe.

Well i probably couldn`t afford all this normally but got 5000 $ phono preamp and more than 3000 $ worth integrated amp. I also got some nice speakers but i used them for other purposes.

As i know lots of audiophiles and i did some reviews, i had chance to be in touch with quite some high end gear.

As you mind ask yourself many times how phones goes vs speakers.

Well i found my heaven with akg k1000. Be carefull if they are not driven very well it will scare you off. I tried them with transistor amps, 300b monoblocks etc. Well it all went ok but not top high end. I don`t know but God is surely nice to this fool cos HL integraed tube amp is heaven combination. I tried and compare this rig with speakeres combinations many many times.

Man i thought someties that akg`s was broken cos i heard so many things. But they are so revealed. Be sure to match them with nice tubes and no matter what many say i think they need push pull amp with at leat 50 w or more.

It`s funny today i listened to quite some lp`s and on Getz/Gilberto Girl from Ipangnema there is some bass coloration in recording. I was thinking that this might be finnaly that i burned akg in some way but then checked on speakers. At close listening on speakers it showed that it is indead recording malfunction. Funny. And if you listen to to the hihats on same record, they really got space and attack much more realistic on the akgs.

And again many said that phono and headphones are no no. I don`t agree. I simply cannot. It can be one of the most intimate listening experiances when done right.

Dont`get me wrong im in love with all the digital revolution and stuff, i`m also Mac Apple nut`s and gonna get me new ipod mini soon, but tubes, lps and headphones are just something hmm.

Well Belafonte is singing on the phone"pretty babby bye bye, farewell" so i am

This is one of my favourite recordings, the bass seems too overpowering, resonating in a funny way.
Is this the same with you?

Yes. Bass is over resonant. I think they recorded contrabass too near the microphone and so it distort. You can hear the resonance/distortion clearly. Quite funny.

And i have to agree on album selection. It`s on the short listo of top albums in my colletction

man, there is no hope for you.

you are on a slippery slope.

when I first listened to gerG's K1000s he warned me - "Careful. You don't want to listen to those". (But he had them in plain sight!!! How could I refuse? person).

And all I could do was moan, "Oh man, Oh man, Oh man".

That electric guitar just sounded "right there".

then he pulled out his 4' x 4' x 2' subwoofer.

DAMN THAT MAN!

He had this Cheshier Cat grin on him as he revelled in my angst and agony.

The K1000, like Stax and HP1000s are not things you want to hear if you can't afford them. It's like candy to a baby. gotta have it.
