Pick something and roll with it :) .  I always make the mistake of spending too much time researching and reading opinions, etc.  Worst case scenario is that you buy something, don't like it and turn around and sell it for probably a small loss.  Also, it's not like beats will have knock your socks off horrible SQ.  The point I often see people making with beats is just that for that price you can have it better.  However, you need to weigh how important the style / look factor is and that might be a good reason to buy beats if that's _really_ important to you.  The scale is good, but what is your weighting? Is SQ 75% and style 25% or 50%/50%?  I +1 the m50's but you seem to have ruled that out already.

Exactly what i was thinking, at least one person can read my mind :)

And for the Sony MDR series, i think they look a bit too big and dull...

For me, style would have a 75% factor with SQ at 25%

Every single one of us told you that the beats suck if you want headphones for the sound so just forget about those
and the ebay seller isnt verified by monster, that means that even they are real you got NO WARRANTY you'll need your warranty for those, trust me.

Haven't had as mutch time with the studio's as the solo's but the solo's literally gave me a headache. the studio's sound wasn't as good as headphones i heard at the same price point (nowhere near as good)

The seller is trustworthy... Only $220 USD
Fake or real?

Not to come across as a jerk (believe me I'm not trying to) but you started a thread asking for recommendations for Beats bass heavy headphone alternatives. The more I read through this thread the more obvious it seems you have decided on beats even though most of us have told you they're not worth the coin for the type of sound signature. You're kind of in the wrong place if you are looking for style over audio substance. I don't hate Beats headphones and if truth be known I think aesthetically they have a pleasing appearance. The problem I have with them is the sound is terrible for the price point they're asking. Seriously I recommend you look past the headphones pleasing physical aesthetics and get some time in with other headphones. If you want to see what the rest of us are talking about when we say better sound quality get a pair of Phiaton's on your head take some time with a Sony XB 700 and definitely also get some time in with the Sennheiser Adidas 25's. If you can't demo them this site can help you hook up with others in your city who have these cans and you can demo them at a headphone meet. Tons of people on here do just that and have found some killer sounding gear at their local city meets as well as avoided bad sounding gear that just wasn't for them.

If you do insist on buying beats then buy from a genuine reseller. What pauk says is true you will need that warranty if you buy a pair of Beats. Beats are known for having issues and breaking especially along the headband. The plastic they use is rather cheap and isn't known for being very durable and if you don't have that warranty you're SOL and you've just lost your hard earned money. If you don't believe me look for yourself.

Just get the ATH-M50's and be happy with them.

They sound great and don't look too bad either. Great starter can.

Would you rather look like a hipster/consumer whore (beats) or a DJ (M50)? The choice is yours.

I've heard the Beats, and they're awful in terms of sound and build quality. I tried a pair of Beats Solo at the apple store, and they broke as I was putting them on. One of the employees said that was the third display model that had broken that week.

(btw, sorry if I offended any hipsters/consumer whores)

Very good... Thanks man
Ill probably be getting the Phiaton MS400 then if beats doesnt work out at a good price from a trusted reseller.
Some people complained about the MS400 double wire, is that a big problem for portability?

Double wire depends on the individual. If you're used to it its no big deal if you traditionally are used to a one sided cable it will be a pain the first few days until you get used to it.

Sorry if i came off as overly precocious I didn't mean to be. It's just I've seen enough people in the past buy Beats and regret it down the road. Truthfully Beats aren't a bad headphone its just the build quality could use some work as well as the sound signature for the price they ask.

For me, a double-entry wire isn't a huge problem.  But it does mean that it's easier to get tangled up in things and it's a little harder to take off/put on with one hand.  But for the most part it's no big deal.

Do you know if you can order things from Australia without much problem though?  Not that I know of any online stores there that would sell any of these...

Beats are just so damn cool tho... but its hard these days to find one with warranty from authorised/trusted seller at a decent price...
Im only prepared to pay $250 ish for a pair with warranty

Ive never owned a pair of headphones before so i think double wire is ok?
So it comes off both ears like and Y zipped together?

blackz88 is in Australia?????? Lol blackz88 you being an Ozzy may just be the ticket to getting a wicked deal. There's tons of users on here who are in Australia some of which are quite prolific headphone collectors. Try this, give the user sale forums a look see. Chances are if you're patient enough you can probably find something you like used at a good price.

Oh and to answer your question yes double wired means the cable goes down from both cups in a y and merges usually a third to halfway down into one cable.
