just a word,marketing/business! But actually two reasons people choose recabling....one being,if the the stock cable bit the dust and second being,some wld think like,upgrading to silver/oyaide/pcocc cables from stock improvize the sound,realising not,but it actually alters the original SS mfr tuned.....Im not debating here but technically there might be some change due to those cable's super conductive properties,but not a day/night difference it brings out,imo...just my 0.02C.....

Btw,you sure that your gr07's cable the culprit not the drivers?its totally dead on both ear pieces?

So I got my GR07 Classic and it sounds pretty similar out of the box to GR07BE. Guess that was just brain-in after all? 

 
 
At any rate, the Classic is definitely less bassy (shock) and the bass register sounds cleaner. BE has louder bass, but not necessarily deeper. Mids are more forward and neutral than the BE. Treble honestly sounds about the same. There's a bit of sibilance and offensive snare drum here and there, but not much worse than the BE. Maybe these are more in line with the MKII? I dunno, just describing it as I hear it. If I had to personify these, they're like brother (BE) and sister (CE), where one is a bit more powerful and the other a bit more elegant, but clearly cut from the same cloth.
 
I really love the way things like Progressive Rock/Metal, Classic Rock, Vocal Pop, Jazz, and Classical sound on the Classics compared to the BE. That said, Bassier EDM or Pop, Hip hop, and newer Metal might be better suited to the BE. I'm sure all of this sounds like common sense, but it's always good to test your assumptions. At first the Classic felt a little soulless and cold, but listening for a half hour or so changed that right up. 
 
Both are great phones, both have the same general sound signature and feel to them. CE is cleaner in the bass and mids and BE is fuller and warmer. If you're on the fence about which is right for you, just look at your music preferences, and don't think about it more than that. If you value clarity and an unmuddled sound, go for the CE. If you want to feel that bass impact and willing sacrifice a bit of clarity (still plenty of detail, just a hair tad muddier), BE is your guy.

The only thing that was noticeably affected by burn in on my pair was some really prolonged decay I was getting on a small treble area. It was really obvious and annoying. It could be that I've gotten used to it but I doubt it, since I can't hear it even when I ab the GR07 against the Tenores which have a very dry and flat treble.

how does the bass of both compared to S1/vsd3s? Btw,excellent comparison between these legends......I like the CE from what I read as I aint bassy lover but love the bass. but wondering if I would loose the bass impact by BE if I chose CE....but for your reference I love the bass of vsd1LE, vsd3S, brainwavz M5 and TF10 to give you some picture of my satisfactory bass and if CE falls in any of those bass level Im much convinced......

The bass of the CE is a little less than the VSD3S and the BE is a little more than the 3S. Not sure which S1 you're referencing, but the BE has less than the Brainwavz S1. The VSD3S is muddier and more bloated in the bass compared to both, but it extends as deep. It's tight and controlled for the price but can't keep up with its older siblings. The CE is the tightest of the two with the best attack and decay, but the BE is tighter than the VSD1 and 3S and is a lot cleaner as well. I would also point out that the BE is by no means a basshead IEM (very clean and detailed in the lower register) and would probably please you more than the CE if you're worried about bass. They aren't that different overall. Clearer, neutral mids in the CE, but more of a fun and full sound with the BE.

I actually like the stock medium tips on both of them once you get the nozzles set how you like. They're the most clear and detailed to me. Those colorful hybrids look cool, but they were a bit too stiff to get a good seal with for me. If you don't like the stock M or L tips, and you have Meelec M6, MH1, or Sony Hybrid, you'll be fine getting a good fit.

Just thought I'd pop into say what an amazing IEM GR07 still is. I have MK2 on loan which is a pleasure being reunited with them, coming from balanced armatures as preference GR07 MK2's natural and unique timbre is absolutely wonderful. The mid-range has a really positive vibe to it,  note weight is spot on. Wish I never sold them to be honest, knowing what I know now.
