VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread

I got a very early pre-production version of the GR07 before it even had a name, and they remain one of my favorite universal IEM's.

They just seem to do everything right.   I use mine with the Klipsch oval tips and the fit is perfect.  Excellent isolation and I soon forget they are in place.

Aight, First run-around of the GR07. They have not yet hit me...  I'll leave them burnin over a few days and then have a listen again. They're remarkably balanced and technically incredible but they sound so mature its not..  how would I put this...  they're like almost perfect at everything but not really jumping at me. And the cable.............................................    I hate earguides but I just might have to force myself to using them because the cable.....    Also whats this hoohah about silver cables? The 'silver' seems to just be an insulation layer ala Shure SCL5/E5 (that has greening problems). I bet the insides are still pretty much copper. Hope the GR07 cables wont green out but judging by the vents required of a dynamic, they just might start greening around the strain reliefs. (no, the greening is not because of our skin oils.. but oxygen)

VS the UM1 is a no contest, but the BA driver does give a nice crisp outline to its tones that I like. I also like how the UM1 fits better in my ears. Sitting very flush and easy on my ears. The Vsonic is very comfortable as well but not as great. Soundwise is where they beat the UM1 flat.

VS the Triple.Fi 10 is a no contest, well okay its not that drastic but the TF10 is superior in sound. Too bad the fit is abysmal.

VS the Sennheiser IE7. IE7 is softer at the edge of the notes.. and more mellow, more relaxed. The GR07 sounds more 'alert' and sharp yet they both have their strengths. GR07 comes up tops. The treble extension of the IE7 both bass and treble is nowhere as capable as the GR07

More impressions VS Shure SE420 and Shure SE530 coming up..  no time!!!

ps: Versus my favourite portable headphone the Bowers & Wilkins p5..  is a no contest as well. My well burned in P5 is far more enjoyable to listen and is capable of matching the GR07 in clarity and detail. Looses out in treble and bass extension but overall, far more musical. I haven't used the P5 in over a week but now that I'm back with them I just can't get them off my head!!! Its unfair however to compare a small 13mm IEM driver to a 40mm headphone..

Yeah, the GR07 doesn't really try to reach out and grab your attention...it tries to be as transparent as possible.  Does a fairly good job if you ask me...

Also, unfortunately, the cable can turn green.  Not sure about anybody else's, but mine is definitely very green - but it's mostly the part before the y-split, not after.  I'm pretty sure it's silver-plated copper too.  Don't think they ever claimed it wasn't.

woohoo another TF10 lover here too!

I like both. At normal sessions I listen to the Vsonic. When time comes I listen to the TF10, and it feels like its on steroids. You know those moments when you just want to tune up the bass and treble and yeh...

I'm mad excited: my GR07s arrived yesterday! It'll be awhile before I can definitively say I really like them, mostly because I prefer to burn them in as I use them and listen to how the sound changes. Might experiment with tips, though. I got the old version that didn't come with 239878797345 different tips, so there's a chance I might grab some Sony Hybrids or something.

Takes them a day or 2 to respond. Remember that they're half way round the globe time wise. Still waiting for a response on tips I ordered along with my GR07s. Not worried but when you shop this way, you can't expect immediate answers.

Thanks for the response guys. It feels reassuring that my order didnt fluke or anything :)

Please pass the 200 hours burnin mark (250 hours for mine) and share your opinions again. I really like to read the comparisons with other top tiers

Also you may give a chance to Aplle iems eartips (addiem white silicones). They do a great job for me.
