guys i have some depressing news, i brought my gr07 be edition to a christmas party, had 3 of my friends try them out.

NO BODY COULD PUT THEM IN PROPERLY, stuffed them in cable down

1 friend was indifferent to their sound incomparison to their skullcandy ink'd that he used to listen to a song earlier

1 friend barely listened to it and decided to listen through speakers

my last friend listened to it a little more extensively, saying that they sound like his beats tours (the old one), and my reply was "do they not sound clearer or faster?" What do you mean faster?"

and opt to take them off after 1 song and put on my friends pair of beats studios (2010) and was enjoying it and was like "you can just relax in this comfy chair and listen to dem beats all day " thats that life!"

later than night all my friends were like "was planning to get some beats for xmas, dunno which one" i said don't get them man, theres better options if your dropping that much cash" "He's a hater, dun listen to him" <-- in a joking manner but still

i even went as far as to show them the design of the sony mdr1r, sennheiser momentums, the bose qc15 they said they were alright but they dun have the "b"

i don't understand anymore, it could be the fact that the eartips don't fit them but i just dunno anymore. if these people can't tell the difference between sound signatures and quality, why drop that much cash $300 (assuming everyones mentioning the studios which is probably the case, cause their the iconic beats headphone)

i guess beats has perfected the marketing formula of marketing= endorsement + massive advertising= sales (even if their products are vastly overpriced and made of a middle tier materials ( seriously for 300$ your using this weak plastic, while the momentums are mostly metal, and the kef m500s are mostly metal as well)

i dunno what to think anymore have you guys encountered this response from others?

Most people aren't audiophiles or even close and can't tell the difference (except that there is less bass brah!)...just be thankful that you can and that you find enjoyment out of it as that is what matters most.  Even in the audiophile community there are varying levels and preferences - some prefer a smoother, more organic sound and others prefer a cold, super-analytical sound.  To each his own I say, and just because I may be more sensitive to a higher level of treble doesn't mean that it's bad, just not meant for me.  Some people want transparency and some want added flavor to their sound...there is always a balance for your own tastes and it's slightly different for everyone.

Specifically for the BE, I had a few people say they sounded amazing and others were not impressed (most were not impressed haha but the others were actually musicians).  This is why you'll see 95% of people have either EarPods, Bose or Beats...I see it every day.  It's all marketing and popular brands with endorsements/reputations will sell regardless.  It's the same as you'll see most people have average commuter cars, or most people will have average LCD screens, or standard computers...it's all about personal interests and preference.

i agree that to each their own flavour, i own a few iems with different sound signatures (for the most part) and i enjoy all of them.
thats why theres an endless sea of iems or other gear out there. but it seems like the public only sees the 3 you listed.

obviously favoring some over others but i agree with your second point regarding everyone using earpods, bose and beats. and blast them to some insane volume. that i can clearly make out the lyrics sitting next to them.

clearly the earpods are not intended for subway or public transit use if you have to turn it that loud. i wonder how that thought doesn't cross peoples minds? lol until they go deaf. it actually bothers me that even some youtube reviewers make statements like "they don't isolate that well, but if you bump up the volume, you won't hear anything outside anyway" no duh, but you wreck you hearing..... there needs to be some advertisements for hearing loss
