The trick is to force it over that last big notch at the end, though if you can find other foamies that fit better, I'd like to know.

Decored Shure Olives - but I don't generally use foamies on GR07 because it muffles the sound (I am a treblehead so I like my sound bright) - I'd like to try Jays foamies but too expensive for me to get from UK

i think they are generally a bit expensive but they are not more expensive than comply tips even if you have to buy them from across the Atlantic.
5 pair of jays will cost 13.5 gbp which is the same as 5 pair of comply tips only if you manage to get free shipping from comply.

This song is easily in my top 20 favorites. I think it shows off the GR07's ability to have deep reverberating bass, while retaining amazing vocals. Also, the song itself is kinda awesome. Warning: it's a little sappy

Does anyone own these and the Yamaha EPH-100s and would be willing to compare them?

Also, how well do these isolate? As well as BA IEMs? (e.g. how much outside noise do they block out without music on?)

Thanks.

i can answer your second question. Without music playing you'll still be able to hear everything, just to a lesser degree. They'll never offer the same level of isolation as a shure. It's not bad, though.

New GR07s, loving them!

Out of interest's sake, listen to LMAO-Party Rock Anthem. It was the first song I felt needed a bass boost as well as the mid bass being distorted.

Still only at 10-15 hours break in. The sibilance is nowhere to be found though. These make great all-rounders!

My playlist goes Mat Zo - Death Cab - Children of Bodom - Lost Prophets - Necrophagist - As blood Runs Black - Jax Panik (Electro Pop) - System of a down - ...

GR07 with blue hybrids with foam worn down (keep left and right the same and let them rest in the back of your ear, very comfortable)

New to IEMs I must ask, does the foam change the sound at all?

Again on the second question, I'd say they isolate maybe 2/3 as much as my A151s (which are BA and sael very nicely). That translates to being able to hear what's going on more or less without music playing, to be able to hear medium-volume noises a tiny bit when music is playing, but still able to listen at comfortable levels while out and about.

Foams tend to attenuate the treble a little bit, and for me at least, they keep the sibilance under control. I only noticed this though after I switched from foams to double-flanges, but it's definitely there.

I think that hybrids with foam also affect the sound. Have you noticed this as i am? They tuckers the sound in a bad way. More than the jays foam..

I use them with GR06 and any affect is positive for me, plus most comfortable.

I'm going to China for work, does anybody know the price of the GR07 when purchased within China?  Is it $155 as stated before?

I think the bass in that song is really smooth on the GR07s. Do you mean at about 3:00 into the song? LMAO songs have a ton of static textures overlayed and I will go out on a limb and say that's most likely actually in the song. I've rarely heard these distort at regular volumes. The only other time was during some explosions in a questionable rip of Inception. Listen to Sexy And I Know it off the same album and the bass is a lot more prominent indicating to me that the bass levels they intended on Party Rock Anthem were actually not meant to be that high at least in the sense that it was probably mastered for consumer grade bass heavy headphones. I can see you wanting more bass as a personal choice. I sometimes do too, though more in terms of rumble than anything else.

I think i agree with this.. It sounds like the song is not properly recorded.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Agreed that the foam changes the sound slightly, personally I seem to find that I get more bass without foam as well as more treble, same size. Going to fiddle around with pushing them in deeper, for the same material except for being filled with foam I find it strange that a sound difference occurs. The foam should only affect fit as reflection doesn't really occur inside your ears does it? Also any reflections that may possibly occur would meet a stiff membrane because of the foam backing, i.e. treble should theoretically slightly increase as it is more like a wall than a sponge.

The foam may possibly affect the seal? It might be that they seal further back thanks to the foam.

I'm sexy and I know it - far better bass! I wonder if the club mix is different for party rock anthem. Then again that song reminds me quite a bit of David Guetta.

I must say when ordering these, I expected less bass than what I am getting, hoping burn in doesn't change that too much. But comfort is still amazing.

My need for decent IEMs has been served quite nicely now, cx300 -> samsung bundled ( cx300 was lost ) -> Gr07

How is anyone's experiences with metal? I can hear on As I lay dying: Frail words collapse, it sounds quite rough in comparison to the newer cds.

You may not have noticed, but I suck at posting in a forum :D oh well! Thanks for answering my questions and discussing random things.

From my experience at around 150-200 hours of burn in, the bass does increase slightly, though I could be imagining it. For me it went from slighlty disappointing to just enough. Though it has become very clear to me that the GR07's, like stated above, are really dependant on the recording, it is taking some adjustment for me coming from Atrios.  With metal, I do find a slight sibilance at higher frequencey guitar solos, also, when a band uses an 808 for a breakdown, it kind of gets lost (ie The Faceless - An Autopsy). Again, I dont know if this is the way it was meant to be or just bad production due to the increased availability of bass heavy phones. The Vsonics really have me questioning myself when it comes to bass and production values.

That seems to be the way it was produced.
The drums are very recessed imo in that song. I played it through my speakers as well as GR07s and felt the same way, there is no impact in the drums, the tone is there though. Cymbals were ok, double bass was poorly done.
Probably just the way it was set up though, interntionally or not is a whole different question.

A lot of metal bands have the drum ifar in the back with the guitars forward. Don't know why. Then again locally the guys recording also seem to have the same issue (we sound much crappier obviously). The studio is relatively new and it could be possible that the layout leaves them bass heavy? Never done much listening in there, just been once.
