Bose or Beats

Thank you all for your help and opinions. I just purchased the Fiio E6 portable amplifier, based on a lot of the recommendations I have seen of the E5, and am about to place an order for the ATH-M50's.

Just to ask. I really like the low bass of the Beats Pro. What can I expect out of the M50's? Will I still get the nice thumps from lows and mids? Really excited to have some good headphone finally. =)

I wouldn't use the D2000 as portables.. they're quite huge.

I'd go with either the TMA-1 or the HD25's.

Appreciate all the input. I've been looking into the Denon D2000 now, but see from everywhere that the sound isolation (other people can hear it too?) is bad.

I wasn't looking for production headphones. I just ride the train to a total of 3 hours everyday, and want something that won't break easy and sound pretty good.

Can anyone recommend the Audio Technica ATH M50's? They would be $100 cheaper than the Beat Pros, which is a plus, but do they sound better?

Thanks!

Just to warn you... you won't have the same feeling as with the Pros. They are good and you will eventually like the M50's sound, but you might be disappointed in finding out they aren't the bass monsters you expected.

Since I have money to throw around, I decided to snag the Pro's (intend to return) as well as the M50's to get a good feel for both of them. My m50's will be in tomorrow. I see what people are saying about the Beats Pro. The mids on some some songs seems a bit lacking? (Not an expert, but that how it feels to me).

I can totally get why people want beats though. I think they are set for a specific type of music. If you like rap or hip hop, on most songs they sound really clean with some nice thumps.

On some rock music (Deftones) they feel a bit lacking, like they are missing something. I'll try and burn them in some, but everyone so far was spot on. They aren't terrible, and for the durability of these, I don't feel cheated for getting them at $200.

I understand the desire to compare headphones but buying something with the pre-meditated intent to return them just ain't cool.

I should clarify that my intent to return them is based off my dissatisfaction with the product after usage. They hurt my ears the way the pads are after an hour or so of use. =(

Sorry, my bad. I misread and thought you were planning on returning them even before you bought them.
