Again...  You said this "HE-400 reminds me of the HE-4 in sound

See above - remember????

Clem and I simply said the HE-400 sound different and have a different sound sig when compared to the HE-4s.

Then you start comparing them to the HE-500s

WTH??

And if you want to get really picky - the only thing iBuds and the HE-500s have in common is they play music.  That's it..  Sound alike.  Not hardly.

WOW  people seem to have their panties up in a bunch.

Wait, I don't get it... Care to rephrase?

I do have a question..

Do you currently own all those headphones?  Or are they previously owned?

Been comparing the HE-500 to the HE-400 over the past week or so.

I prefer the HE-500 immensely. HE-400 reminds me of the HE-4 in sound, but I'm pretty sure I liked the HE-4 better.

Just wish they still had the Canare pairing as opposed to the sliver twist cable.

The term "reminds" can be indicative of anything, and refers to the retrieval of a memory.

So yes, the HE-4 was a past headphone. But it did indeed remind me of the HE-400.

No,

That question had nothing to do with the other discussion.  I was just curious of the amount of headphones you have.

Oh, you mean all the ones in my profile? I thought you were referring to the HE-400 and HE-500.

That's why I asked you to rephrase your previous comment... didn't understand your question/statement.

If ur in US..maybe..but for EU u have to include at least 30% of the total of the raw price and postage (big box!) to EU..for me buying in DE was cheaper (less postage +no customs costs + no handling costs) (...)

If you order from UK, you can be lucky with the customs..., I agree that ordering from a Euro country is a safer a bit cheaper option, but then, read back in this thread about ordering to UK from Head-Direct...

It is a difficult choice.

What amp would you use with the 6s?

Considering I gave the 4s to my dad (but use them sometimes. A lot currently, actually),
The 6s would replace both the 500s and 4s. I don't see why I would go back to the 4s if I have the 6s and like them.

I have the SA-31 which I can tune from fairly neutral (for 500s and 5LEs, for instance) to warm (2 levels). I has 10Wpc.

Remember the HE-400 thread in which I shared my experience with the 4s? I had a cold back then and my ears were not fully opened (the 500s sounded muffled, which they never did before).
My ears recovered and I found the 4s too bright, once again.

Since then, I set the SA-31 to its warmest setting. Now the 4s are not only fine, I just keep using them over the 500s and I seriously consider the 6s now.

I also have a brand new NFB-27 and got my 500s balanced. I honestly think the SA-31 is on par with the internal amp of the NFB-27 (which, supposedly, is base on the master 5/6/8) in a technical standpoint.
To that it adds a very nice "musical flavour" that I'm having a hard time to describe (is not tubey sounding) but that grew on me. The NFB-27 is for sale, its (balanced) amp is redundant.

I've ordered from this site before, it's works pretty well so long as they have the product in stock (which they often don't).

They seem to currently have HE-500 in stock (which they haven't had in a while), so if anyone is thinking of ordering a pair of "cheap" HE-500 in the EU zone, I wouldn't wait too long to order from them, as their out of stock process is quite long, random and annoying from what I've read on French forums (like 15-20 business days to ? or basically no information after you pay until they magically deliver one day). Good service apart from that, and cheap.

Yep a friend ordered a NFB-3.1 which was not on stock. It took more than 1 month (almost 2 IIRC) to get it delivered :/

They don't seem to reflect all the taxes on Hifiman products (it should be 700€)?

For the record, I always ordered my Hifimans on Head-direct and never had to pay customs (HE-4, HE-400, HE-500) in France.
