Just made my first CMOY, what next? - Page 2

Thanks for the all the suggestions everyone.    However, I need a portable solution to drive 600ohm headphones.  Thus I need something that is NOT a desktop amp and can deliver >9v, thus why I made a 2x9v CMOY.

I'm also still trying to get any feedback as to how the following impacts the sonic qualities of the amp:

  • 3ch design?
  • Addition of buffers in the output stage?
  • Biasing into class A?

Hi--

Presuming you have a music source without significant DC offset (can be checked with a voltmeter) you can improve audio quality of the CMoy by replacing the input capacitors with 1 K resistors. I did this and the improvement is obvious. I am using the OPA 2227 op amp and must say that this is really my favorite headphone amp. Mine is setup for 12v from a wall transforrmer rather than for portable use.
