I finally bought a good source and am able to exerience what good headphones can provide and with that being said I thought I would share what I noticed with my SR 325's compared to my sennheiser HD600s. Im not hear to bash on either so dont get that idea! Its hard to expalin the grados. THere good headpohones and do display a lot of detail but there soundstage is so small and narrow that I cant really pinpoint the details as well as I can on sennheisers! Little details I notice clearly on the senns go passed unnoticed or are hard to hear. Another thing I think might have to do with that is how up front they are! Right in ur face so U wont hear background details as well! I cant listen to these for nearly as long as my senns! I guess there just to up front for me. But I still like them and I have a feeling it may also be that ive only had my grados for a bout 2 months compared to over a yr of listening on my senns so that may have soemthing to do with it. Anywayz just felt like posting some thoughts going thru my head! LOL! Peace!

"their" is possessive, is it not? What's the big deal?

"does anyone know the difference between "there," "their," and "they're?" come on..." thats just a attempt to derail a thread. one of the thigns I like about this community is that people are generally friendly and nice, lets try to keep it that way? His point came accross just fine, unless your a Ph.D in english I fail to see the problem.

Thats cos many people on this forum dont give a damn about any headphones, amps, cables and source that isnt worth a fortune.

that is entirely untrue.

Half the time people in here are replying to posts about someone coming here with a budget, and asking strangers what they should buy. I've been guilty of the same thing. It just so happens alot of people in this hobby are passionate about it, and invest an arm and a leg. Then there are people who have spent not even a fraction of what the ridiculous level could be, and spend more time talking about their system, comparing, and indulging in it.

It takes all kinds. Don't hate.

Depends on the cans design. Basicaly this is the difference between supra-aural (Grado) and circum-aural (Sennheiser) sound.

I guess that Grado bowl pads creates circumaural sound (especially for ppl with flat & small ears, yet tracking all the details.

mjg, my assertion is correct. Many people dont care for systems under a certain price tag, and thats the reason why some threads are cold. Theres nothing wrong with them not caring about a certain type of gear. It is an observation on my behalf.

I don't think it's price, i think it's more like trend. I have started a few threads that went cold real fast because no one was interested, not because the gear was cheap. People have alot of brand loyalty, and tend to flock towards what they call the flavor of the month. There is definatly alot of threads like that, but lets be fair and not say all of them are like that.

Making such a broad generalzation would also make this thread pretty irrelevant, yet aren't we here talking about it?

BTW,
Also no offense, but I 'did' have some trouble trying to read the original post in the thread. I wouldn't have been as rude as that guy was about it, but I really didn't get the point, confused the hell out of me.

There (correct usage) are numerous threads about the sound of the 325's and the 600's, and a few where they are directly compared. Many of the older posters (like myself) have read these threads already, and don't feel a need to add to a new one. Use the search function and you will see what I mean...

This is normal. Sennheisers tend to exaggerate the soundstage, sucking out some life from the recordings in the process. The Grado's are basically telling you the truth and many people can't handle the truth i.e. the flaws in the source/amplification they are using. But don't let this concern you. The main thing is to use what you like and don't worry about anything else, just enjoy your music. And I hope you have the right pads on those.

Happy listening!

Don't fret, it's always nice to get opinions on headphones et al. Feel free to post your thoughts.
