Have Fiio E7, should I buy the E9 combo?

As the title says, I have the E7 and am wondering if the E9 would be worth the add on.

I will be running mainly the sennheiser HD598 from it. Am looking at paying £90 for the E9.

Anyone have experience with this combo?

Point taken for the future.

Croozer, considering you have titled yourself as owning this, I have read that it sounds more cold/neutral than the E7 alone. to what extent?

The E9 is a neutral amp and it sounds very good, it has a lot more power than the E7 and it is definitely a worthwhile addition.

No, colder and more neutral, I wouldn't agree. I was using the E7 alone at work with my Usone 900's and it was a great improvement (of course) over the craptop's sound output. But adding the E9 brings it into audiophile territory. Much more clarity, bass impact, etc. You need great phones of course for it to be worthwhile, but the versatility of having the E7 for on the go, and the combo with E9 for an audiophile setup you can leave on your desk and not just die if it were stolen, are well worth the cost.

That's an interesting point!

I've just placed an order for the (now discontinued) PRO 2500's (the open version of the 750 I believe) and was wondering whether to get the E7 or the E7 and E9.

I think I may get both.

I was going to order just E7 but then I thought what the hell, ordered E9 together. I am SO glad that I did that. E7 DAC does an excellent job replacing the crappy on-board sound card's DAC but amping wise it's not going to wow you. The biggest benefit I hear from E9 is the bottom end, solid, tight, and strong (PRO 900 & D7000). If you're using a computer as a source you will love the combo.
