Electronic Music Exchange (House, DnB, Dubstep, etc.)

What I'm most thankful for was to be born into the era of electronic music. An era where masterpieces can be crafted from, and limited to nothing more than - your deepest imagination. I also encourage more of you electro fans to start making your own tunes too - you may be surprised that your own contribution may be able to further advance this infinitely expanding multi-verse of electronic music... self actualization through technological expression. You'll never know your potential until give it a try, and the primary instrument of today is nothing more than a computer.

PS - and this thread is becoming a good source to keep up with new (and some old) electronic music as I've mentioned before around the web!

Such an incredibly strong track. Lyrics are uplifting in the purest form. I urge to read 'em.

There will be people who say you can't - you will.
There will be people who say you dont mix this with that and you will say "watch me".
There will be people who will say play it safe, thats to risky - you will take that chance and have no fear.

What a track! cool

I hate to break it to ya, but IMLAY - Empress has absolutely nothing to do with Asian style, and I'm willing to wager that none of their instruments resemble traditional Asian instruments even slightly. The above is a new age hybrid of trap and EDM; very western sounding IMO.

On the other hand, Japan has some longtime electrona legends such as Towa Tei, Cornelius, Ken Ishii. These three have been really innovating the scene for the last 20+ years, especially the newest several releases from Towa Tei - worth donating blood for!!

There has also been at least a dozen compilations of proper Asian electronica since around 2004; which is more focused on the chillout / lounge / trip hop styles of the downtempo sub-category - a style many of them dig in the eastern hemishphere.
(this is coming from a massive electro-junkie who has been to many Asian countries 6 times around, so believe me)

Here is a one of the earlier Asian Chillout series, from 2005, and if you like I can later share more of it with you:

Although not necessarily an Asian sound, here is one of my favs from Towa Tei of Japan:

Clark was better back around '06 IMO

I like his old stuff too, but he peaked with Totems Flare in '09 for me. I found last year's eponymous album to be a significant return to form after the hugely disappointing Iradelphic, and I think Flame Rave builds on that.

Gotta say I'm with Levi. Most of Clark's stuff is way too hectic for me but as his particular sound is very appealing I keep checking his releases. Ted EP, Body Riddle and Iradelphic (+sessions) is where my preference lies. He's so talented and what I like most of all is not letting the listener get a hold of him. Knowing what's around the corner in the next seconds of his tracks is near impossible.

Blamstrain - Ensi

Another blast from the past... Merck was good while it lasted.

Nice! Used to play the album and Linja in particular a lot a lot. Still pulls me in.

Speaking of being unpredictable slash adventurous with so much attention to detail is what Funckarma also does for me. I do think it's starting to sound a little outdated or over the top but Elaztiq Bourbon 5 is still a solid album.

Or their side project Scone (with Kettel). Only so-so appealing these days.

Hectic is good man! I'm also a fan of the likes of Xanopticon, Somatic Responses and yes, Funckarma. Iradelphic to me was just meh - safe-sounding downtempo electronica that could have been made by a number of other artists. For me, Clark at his peak, has a really unique style - the closest comparison I can think of is probably Himuro. It's bold, virtuoso stuff - and the excitement comes, exactly as you say, from not knowing where he's going next with a track.
