What is YOUR biggest obstacle in experiencing audio nirvana?

I only love the board members who assume the role of women on this forum, when we all know full well that audio is 99.99% male dominated.

I would have to say that the primary thing preventing me from feeling audio nirvana is the shape of my ears XS.. My clip-on headphones just don't work perfectly for me, forcing me to find strange ways of getting them to seal.

And like many, money is another obstacle; which goes hand-in-hand with wanting more.

Audio nirvana is, as it seems, in the ear of the beholder.

Well, if you do spend more money, you will get to hear "cha-ching," right? =P Just kidding, haha.

The toughest thing is how once you hear better(usually more expensive), it's hard to go back.

I can see on your profile picture that the seal is pretty bad.  You might consider over-ears.  But you can type very well.

In New York there have to be at least 10 places to try out half the headphones mentioned here. Google maps shall not harm you...

When I said 'gear' that means amps and dacs are included.  But yes, you can try out most of phones out there (except the boutique orthos & stax) at J&R World in Manhattan.  They're all run off a generic source fed to a generic receiver split to about 20+ different cans.

I am so jelly right now... In Portugal you have Sennheiser (only 'audiophile' brand ever), WeSc, Skullcandy, Beats by Dre, Sony, and I recently found 1 store in the entire country that has Ultrasones. Oh and some AKG, like 2 models, 1 on display.

In answer to the title question: focusing on equipment instead of music. I've learned not to do that, which has increased my enjoyment AND saved me a lot of money.
