Need help deciding if I should keep new Ety MC3s

My original question was whether I should keep the MC3s, but I've edited the question below because I have no idea what to do!

I'm new to IEMs - I have always used apple earbuds and Bose over-ear Quiet Comfort 2s. I need some help evaluating what I am hearing and deciding whether to keep these.

I ordered two sets of in-ear headphones: Klipsch iS4 and Ety MC3.

The Klipsch sound closest to my Bose over-ear headphones, but they don't have a lot of clarity.  They're muddy and sloppy sounding.  There's also no variety in the tips, they only come with canalbud tips.

The MC3s sound much more clear, but there's almost no bass.  Worse than I thought it would be.  After I listen to them for a while I don't notice, but if I switch back to my Bose, the music sounds much more full because of the bass.  I do like the choice of tips so I can experiment to figure out which I like best.

My questions:

  1. Is there a better alternative that has the bass of the Klipsch and the clarity of the Etys?  I also need an inline mic and ipod controls.  Or should I just keep one of these and get used to them?

  1. Bone conduction - I notice a lot of noise from my footsteps when I walk.  Do you get used to this?

  1. Many of my itunes tracks sound worse with these headphones than with my Bose QC2.  Is it possible that the clarity on these is bringing out poor quality in my MP3 files?   I don't hear the same full sound as I do with my Bose headphones... can't tell if it's the lack of bass or something else.

  1. Is it unrealistic to think I will get the sound quality of the Bose from IEMs?  Are the Bose just that much better?  (They're the best I've ever used, so I can't tell)

  1. How much of a difference is there between the Comply foam tips and the Ety or Klipsch foam tips?

Thank you for any advice.

Well I'm no expert, I got my first IEM's (ER6i's) about a year and a half ago, and just ordered a pair of MC3's. Here's a few tips from what I know or have heard.

MC3's are not known for a lot of bass. You can try using bass boost on your player, and also making sure that your digital files are pretty high quality. I could definitely hear the difference of music quality in my digital music when I started using the Er6i's, so it's possible that that's what you are hearing.

Some people have said that the MC3's get better over time, so maybe try burning them in (there are tons of threads about that). The footsteps thing- do you use the clip? That helps. I have never figured out a way to completely avoid it.

I have used the Comply tips, and they were more comfortable than any of the tips that came with the phones, including the Ety foam tips. If you want sound quality and isolation though, the flange tips are the way to go.

Like I said, I'm no expert, but I hope this helps a little. Good luck!
