You're welcome.

Truthfully, I chose this color scheme over the detachable cable. Then again, in order to get the Caliente in silver I had to pay a bit more and wait almost a month for the steel mill. According to Oriel, from Purity Audio, this might be the last silver amp.

great review. I love my 702s.. They are unreal with bluegrass, blues etc.  Nice to see a positive review of them.  To me they portray the sound that the artist wanted you to hear.

I want another pair of headphones to compliment the 701's.

So should I....

A) Get the HD 650's

B) Buy a DAC

C) Keep saving for the T1's!!!

Thanks.

I've heard the hd650's and I was not blown away by them. Granted they were unamped and I assume the source wasn't the best (thats what u get from the neighbor who buys nice headphones without doing their research).

I personally pair my k701 with the ultrasone hfi-2400. They are similiar in price range, and I feel that the ultrasones are the perfect opposite for my k701. They sound truly unique, have a fantastic soundstage, and are fairly portable (i wear mine around campus with a portable dac). The ultrasones are certainly a dark headphone, but post burn in (roughly 100 hours) I found that the mids and the highs came out significantly. The bass is not bloated at all thank god... in fact the bass sounds unlike anything I've ever heard before. It's so well defined, hitting with impact that takes nothing away from any of the other ranges. I guess you just have to hear it to understand :)

very nice review by the way, and I really enjoyed your pictures. I feel that the k701 is truly a beautiful pair of headphones, even if most people don't agree

Glad you enjoyed it.

Those headphones sounds good, and I actually just ordered something very similar: the m50's.

I wanted something different, closed, and portable for the library and such, too.

No go to A

Maybe B

Maybe C

D) Get an LCD-2 or Denon AH-D7000

If you're looking for cans to compliment AKGs, those two cans should be on the top of your list, imo

Don't go for the first option :)

Just read this review. Great read, and I agree with you on the K702 sound signature. It's really pleasant to listen to.
