Hi,

Looking to buy a cheap pair of headphones and have been looking at the above sets, just wondering on what peoples opinions are on these and if there are any better ones for the same price range. I currently have sennheiser hd448 and sony xb500 and wanted something that was in the middle of the two, would these fit the bill, or any other recommendations.

Thanks

The DT 235 are an excellent option. Here are some more recomendations:

Audio-Technica ATH-M30

AKG K 99

Sennheiser HD 205

Shure SRH 240

I forgot to mention I also have a Fiio e5, would any of these benefit from being amped?

Thanks for the reply

What are people's opinions on the Denons, and how do they compare with the other headphones?

Thanks

Yes, these headphones would benefit some amplification, they are pretty easy to drive but additional output power adds that extra to the sound.  You'll find the E5 will compliment your headphones nicely.  Denon's line of headphones usually have a bit of bass oriented sound signature, which could be a negative depending on your tastes.

The ones I'm interested in are the:
Beyerdynamics which are £35
Denons which are second hand at £20
AKG K99 which are £32.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the Beyerdynamics, however the Denons price is attractive and the AKGs get good reviews. Which one would you pick(I know that opinions on headphones are different as music tastes differ). My Sennheisers are very clear but lack bass, and my Sonys have to much bass. Which one of the above would fit in between these.

Thanks again

Which one?  Hmm, that a tough one...  If you want that clear sound while maintaining a good base responce then I suggest going with the Beyers.

I'm 99% sure I'll get the Beyers, one last question, how do they compare to the more expensive AKG K 518, as I have found them for just under 10 pounds more than the Beyers. Are they £10 better headphones?

Thanks

How do the Beyers compare to my Sennheiser hd448s, is there a big difference in sound?

Thanks

I've found the AKG K 518 in a local shop and am wondering if they are better than the Beyers.

Thanks
