New Beyer DT1350

no new posts in a while...

I'm changed the mini3 for the iBasso D3, amp section. and I like it better, sounds even more resolving, curious thing, I still prefer Zune120>D3 combo over the iPoo classic>LOD>D3, Zune has no line out but maybe that gives it a more warm (full maybe) sound. but I can only tell the difference if I AB them.
but i think Id appreciate an amp with a bass boost, never have I been interested in one but it might suit the beyer.

BTW the D3 gives 110 hours of battery life

Not my business but if you're going to go with iBasso why don't you wait a little while raise the funds and go all out and get the D12 Anaconda DAC/Amp combo? Right now I'm amping my 1350 with a DIY amp I got from a forum member and I'm liking the results. It definitely tightens up the frequencies and brings out a small tad of sub bass.

I was aiming for a D4 but found the D3 in the FS forums for very cheap, and took it. is a very good DAC, and even the amp alone beats my mini3, trust me, for the price I got it and as new as it looks. I had to take it

plus is small enough as to use it only as portable amp. just a little shorter than the mini3. and did I mention the 100 to 110 hour of battery?!!

I find the DT1350 very sensitive.  My DacPort just barely has enough volume pot travel to get above channel imbalance and provide a pleasant low volume.  I run from dacport with volume at 1:00 into my pico slim sometimes for that reason.  I may be off base, but I bypassed the powerful ibasso amps such as the D12 and the separate dac and amp combo for this reason.  Just my 2 cents.

+1 here. I'm also using the Dacport at work with the DT1350 and require about 1:00 for normal volume. Are you getting more/better bass while connected to Pico slim because I do when connected to Neco Portable Dual Mono amp.

A bit of clarification - I run my DacPort around 9 - 10 o'clock with the DT1350's.  When I run from the dacport (using it as a dac), I set volume @ 1:00 per CEntrance's recommendation, into my Pico, as it has much finer volume control.  Bass is essentially the same either way.

Seriously - 17% off a brand new headphone (and such a nice one at that) INCLUDING shipping is crazy.  Great deal.

And I agree, aamefford - they are extremely sensitive.  All my portable amps just edge past the channel imbalance on the volume pot and I'm already at a comfortable, indoor listening level (with the exception of the PA2V2, but it doesn't improve these cans they way a cmoy or even the E11 does).

It's a shame, too, because even the small portable amps improve the sound on them so nicely!

Ah. I see. After verification (Just listening now) 1:00 is a bit loud so I would say 11:00 is more like it. (Iguest Classical recording is always lower)
Where have you read that 1:00 was the recommend volume for DAC/pre-amp use?  I remember reading to set to FULL volume. I believed it was also confirmed by headphoneaddict.

I second on the CMoy. As per my previous post the Neco Portable is a Dual-Mono Cmoy and Bass is excellent.

$250 is a real deal. I only saw two sellers on the bay with DT-1350's.  I made an offer which was immediately declined.  Whether these are AD's, who knows.  I really have an itch for these 'phones to try out with my incoming HP P-1.   Otherwise, I am stuck with ESW 9's for a portable, on the ear.

It was an email phone call with CEntrance.  I originally bought the DacPort LX, but I got tired of always having to unstack my portable rig to use the amp (yeah, I'm that lazy...).  It took me a month almost to the day to decide to trade up or over to the DacPort with the class A amp.  I asked if wide open on the pot would be equivalent to the LX.  No, 1:00 is equivalent to the LX.  It seems to provide about the correct volume for my use.  True, signal is still traveling through the volume pot, but the dacport has a nice volume pot, and I don't notice any issues with sound quality.

Side note - CEntrance let me switch for the difference in price, even after a month.  Even better, I purchased at the introductory discount price on the LX, and they only asked for the $100 difference, so the discount was effectively extended to the standard dacport.  Very nice of them!
