Any new updates from anyone in regards to the alternative Pads that can be purchased from Beyer?

From what I remember reading earlier in this thread the larger diameter pleathers are the better bet over the velours in terms of SQ?
Do they retain the 1350's delicious sub bass? Are they much more comfortable for longer listening sessions?

And retain the same level of isolation?

To me the larger pad are somewhat more comfortable but make it harder to achieve a correct seal. I'm kind of reliving the first weeks once again: the pads do take time to soften up a bit, so bass response as well as isolation were getting better over the past view weeks (and still continue to do so).
Overall I'm not so sure the expense is worth it (as noted earlier shipping directly from Beyer to me was not cheap). Yes, comfort is better but its not a night/day difference to me. Of course it might help someone out who experiences major discomfort with the standard pads.

Btw: the larger pads give the 1350 a quite different look, which I like, as the wider diameter protrudes from the driver housing. You might have to fit them in their case with the pads up (not the backside up as usual), but I did not try that.

Edit: added photo.

Thanks for the impression & photo!
I agree I like the look of the larger pads.
I find comfort OK on 1350 now unless I'm listening for like 3hrs+ at work.
Definitely some pad burn in time. & as you say may no it be worth the large cost to get others shipped from beyer.. Hmm

If you can live with the standard pads I'd say keep them... I consider the larger pads a bit of a novelty, but definitely not essential. Plus one pad got loose once while in my bag: the protruding part obviously can collide with other contents of my bag more easily than the standard pads. Not a big problem as it only happened once, but I never had any such problems before.

Could it be that they've lowered the headband pressure a bit on the newer batches? Did someone experience the same thing? My serial number is 14xxx.

Kind Regards, cholero

Could be that they did lower it. I actually find them pretty comfortable. Without glasses on, anyway. My serial # is 17xxx.

Any recommended full-size headphone that similar/higher SQ and in the same price range with DT1350 ?
I'm about to sell my Senn RS180 and ATH M50s so I'm thinking to get the full-size headphone for the replacement.

I keep thinking if only DT1350 has no comfort problem with the long-time usage it would be perfect ....

It's interesting to scroll back over posts on this page and the previous.  People are discussing the same things I'm wondering.  Will those larger, replacement pads improve comfort?  I find the DT1350s uncomfortable when I'm wearing glasses but fine without glasses.  Perhaps I need to switch back to contacts or find glasses with thinner temples rather than new headphones, because these headphones sound too good.

I'm also wondering about amplification.  I'm still trying to learn about All Things Amplified and am considering whether I want to purchase a portable DAC/amp for my Macbook and/or iDevices.  I agree that they sound great straight from the jack but reading what you guys say about the Fostex HP-P1 is making me consider going that route or something similar.  (Dang, doesn't that CEntrance HiFi-M8 look tempting?)

The HiFi-M8 looks like BIG fun, I'd love to play with it for a while. The HP-P1 is likely to be competitive with the HiFi-M8 strictly for audio quality with synergised headphones. But I just noticed the HRT microStreamer has arrived, maybe that is worthwhile investigating for your situation. It's relatively inexpensive too.

Meanwhile I'm appreciating the DT1350 more every time I switch to it, great headphone. Thanks to the head-fier's.

Kinda-sorta, I would say the AKG K550.

If anyone needs one (for some reason), I was shipped the wrong Beyerdynamic case and the seller is being a pain about return. So I've got a new DT1350 case if any needs one. Check out my sig for the FS thread if you're interested.
