The Hifiman looks very promising. But I'm not familiar with how a hybrid amp operates, embarrassingly enough. Do I need to purchase tubes for it, since it is a hybrid? I was also wondering if it is possible to connect my old 2.1 Logitech speaker set to the amp.

In simple terms a hybrid amp is a combination of tubes and solid state.  So yes--a hyrid amp will have and come with at least one tube.  Look at the three amps in the Schiit line for an example of each type.
 
There are a number of amps (and receivers for that matter) that push both headphones and speakers.

Hello, I've been doing some research on the subject, but since I'm new here and don't have much experience with headphones over about $200 I thought it would be a good idea to ask.
 
I'm after a headphone in the sub $500 price range. I have a fiio E7, so please mention if I'd need a stronger amp.
What I normally listen to would be stuff like Daft Punk, Parov Stelar, DJ Taka, and Gorillaz, but there's some other stuff mixed in as well so I'd like a bit of flexability. 
I've been thinking of the mrspeakers Mad Dog. (modded t50rp)
Thoughts?

Hey guys, I would like advice picking out some closed cans. My budget is 250 USD, and preferably below 300. I listen to metal (death metal, melodic death, deathcore, metalcore, etc. no thrash), electronic music (DnB, trance, hardstyle, electro, house, etc.) as well as rock, and almost everything pretty much. But primarily metal.
 
I have done research here (search function FTW), but by asking myself and having people address my specific concerns I can spend more confidently. So as much detail as possible (that a somewhat newbie audiophile can understand) would be greatly appreciated.
 
I have heard good things about Audio Technica ATH-M50. But I've also seen the a900x's, some stuff by Sennheiser, Denon, and other brands. There are so many brands, I really don't know where to start, and I don't know if headphones can get so specific where some are better for thrash metal than, say, death metal (which is why I was so specific when I listed the genres). 
 
I fear if I go to bestbuy or somewhere local without having a better educated opinion, I'll buy something that doesn't suit my needs as well as it could. I also don't know how knowledgable the employees will be. 
 
I currently use what I believe are the Bose IE2 ear buds and they sound great to me, but I know there is better stuff out there.

Edit: I am a drummer so I enjoy very clear treble that isn't ear piercing as well as clear tom play (are toms considered mids?). But I also enjoy a good breakdown, where bass can be good as well. And for when I listen to electronic, bass is a necessity haha.
 
Edit 2: These will mainly replace my Bose IE2's. So I will be wearing them all over the place. I am open to using amps, so do not be afraid to suggest headphones that do better with them. But please give me an idea of how expensive amps for those headphones are so I can get an idea.

edit: closed is the only way,soundstage would be nice and music taste is different everyday from Bach to Burzum.
edit 2: denon -AH-d600 ?  they look soooo sweet...

I think you would be happiest with the Denons, especially if you like the looks of them as opposed to the last generation's look (which IMO was much better.)  There is something special about Denons.  They have soundstage, are closed, and fun as all get out.

I've had my ATH-M50 for about 2.5 years and finally figured out what I don't like about them, the bass is a bit floppy. So I'm looking for something with a little more definition in the lower end. The price range can be anything below the flagships, amps can be suggested too.
 
I've listened to a lot of headphones and felt the beyer 990s had too much bass that it overwhelmed everything, the beyer 880s (250 ohms) were really close, but had some really harsh treble making some tracks unlistenable. The sennheiser hd 600s were really close to what I wanted, but there was just something missing from them, maybe I didn't spend enough time with them. I'm not a fan of the Grados I've heard (80, 125, and 225) mostly because of the trebles. I listen to a lot of metal, and I did not like the way the guitars sounded on the denon 2000s or 5000s. They just didn't sound right, those cans colored the distortion all wrong. The AKG 701s didn't work either, everything sounds too far away and spaced out on them. 
 
Music I listen to is a lot of different types of prog-metal/hardcore/metal so that is kayo dot, maudlin of the well, neurosis, isis, converge, touche amore, agalloch, and the dillinger escape plan.

Ultrasone hfi 580 have more bass than m50 and sound a lot cleaner in the whole spectrum. I love em, I think you would too. Sennheiser hd 25 are nice too. Dt770 32 ohm are amazing. All three if these get my vote.

Senn HD 650.  They have a bit more bass than the HD 600.

DT-770 Pro 32? or DT-770 32 ohm? Both should sound slightly different I imagine.
I don't think the Pro 32 is sold in the USA, but I could be wrong.

Well..... Im a total newbie, and i have... Spent all my money i obtained for the last 2 years (after normal expenditure) on 2 in ears.. The skullcandy Riots and SoundMAGIC PL11. Skullcandy got ****ed, and PL11 got stolen :'(
Im not an audiophile, but.. well a basshead.. i ****ed my SK's just coz bass was not good, PL11 it was good enough to keep me rocking..
Im from India, here JVC XtremeXplosives not available.. i got around 2500 inr (RUPEES).... buying em from flipkart, no sony XB500 here either (at 7k, but after conversion frm $ it should be 2500INR) I've checked sony store and some other local ones, no luck.. I really wanted the XB500..
Well that apart, Im gonna buy one next month.. Im a super noob. My main focus is on bass. I'm looking at Soundmagic E30 ATM, but looked at Sennheiser HD203 too.. 
What should I take? In ear earphones or over the ear headphones? for bass? I will be listening from my old Galaxy 3, with a poor battery.. 
Klipsch S3.. I prefer E30 over that, donno if im correct or not..
which one should i take? or suggest me one, ill check price and availablity from http://www.flipkart.com/.. i got no other choice, im home bound ATM..

I'm looking for a pair of headphones that are good for a lot of music genres with a tight bass that has a decent punch and mids that aren't recessed nor forward. Budget is around $200 to $300 and comfort and isolation are pretty important to me.

-10% live music
-5% movie soundtrack
-10% audiophille vocal tracks and acoustic
-15% new age (yanni, chris spheeris)
-No classical, metal, and old recordings
 
Would the w3000anv suit my needs? Or should i stay with the lcd2.2 or denon d7000? or any other choices below $1200
 
However, my current dac/amp is just a centrance dacmini.....
 
Would the centrance dacmini (10ohm) be suitable for the w3000anv? Or do i need another amp? Thanks for the advice.

Are you kidding?  $90 for a cable to put on the Senns?  Wait until you have something like the 600s or 650s before you go all fancy cable on us.  As for the Fiios you mentioned, forget them too as they will only color and smooth over the details you paid for in your new cans.  If you have to have a cheap amp get a good one like the JDS labs cmoy. 
 
As for can choices, the KRK is highly recommended (I have not heard it) for those who like its reported sound signature.  Or another choice would be the Shure 840s, which I like a lot and actually moved to from Senn 650s..

What are your source files?  MP3, aac, wav or aiff?  What is your source?  DAP, computer,  OS etc.  Any dac in the mix?  Any amp?  Portable or home use or both?
