Hi, I recently was looking at various sets of sound cards and headphones to buy, as I've been wanting desperately to upgrade from my current headphones (or rather a headset), the g35.
After looking for a few days, reading countless user reviews, and asking a few friends, I am currently looking at both the audio technica ath a700, ath ad700, and the Sennheiser HD595's. Of the three, so far I seem to be leaning towards the ath a700. In addition, I was looking at using the ASUS Xonar Essence STX with which ever set of headphones I get. Are there any other sets of headphones I should consider and which of the three I've put forward are better? Also are there any other sound cards and/or amps I should consider at the price point of the stx?
All input is appreciated, thanks.

Okay,
The AD700's are open back headphones, but they have good soundstage but they are bass weak. If you want more bass, the A700's have it + a wide soundstage.
Both are good for games and movies.

Regarding the soundcard, you'll be fine with the stx by asus.

I forgot to ask which kind of music you listen to?

I listen to a lot of stuff. Anything from almost any kind of metal, rock, to some house, techno, trance, and even the occasional bit of of Classical. The only things I stay away from really are rap, as it is in general not my cup of tea.
