Beats Pro - Worth it for 50% off?

Like if I would compare two headphones against each other I wouldn't be talking what has "better bass" (because then I'd speak from my personally preferred point of view) but I'd compare them in bass quantity and type, such as are they more emphasized in upper bass (punchy/tight/fast decay bass) or more emphasized in the deep bass (soft/boomy/slow decay bass) and let people decide for themselves.

I tried them out at Best Buy yesterday and was surprised (after reading the rants here) that they weren't total crap. The bass is emphasized, but it was fairly distinct, unlike the solos, which were like getting hit in the ear by a bass marshmallow. I wish they'd let you hook your own source up to them.  You could for the Sony XB500 and some other headphones, but not the Bose or Monsters.

It's your money and they're your ears. If you like the sound and you can get a decent deal, get them.

the display at my local bestbuy allowed you to hook them up to your own source at one point but they "upgraded" the demo station with the jack hardwired to the station

If people are interested in the Beats Pro mainly because of the looks, the Phiaton MS 400 is just as stylish while delivering much better SQ overall imo. The MS 400 is being sold on Amazon for $180 too.

For me it's a combination of style, construction/durability, and features (detachable semi-coiled cable, 1/4 adapter retainer, dual input/output ports) actually.

I heard the Beats Pro and I actually quite liked them. The bass is very powerful. The treble was just about right for me. Any bass head's dream. If you listen to hip-hop and/or R&B, you will like them. They also block out noise really well too. A really fun and colored sound. Wouldn't buy them at their retail price though.

Honestly even at 50% off they still have some issues... A) they leak a lot of sound, B) You can get better cans for the same $$ - even if it's 50% off.

To be fair, I found them VERY comfortable, but other then that no - I returned shortly after buying them.

I tried these out at a little shop in the airport yesterday, and to be honest they were not bad at all.  The first thing I noticed was the construction, they are very solid and built like a tank.  None of this flimsy cheap plastic like the studios.  I only tried them on for about 5 minutes, so I can't comment too much about the extended-use comfort.  Contrary to popular belief, I did not find the bass to be overblown at all.  They sounded a lot like the ATH-M50.  They're definitely not worth the $449 retail price, but at around $200 I'd grab a pair for portable use.

so.. how about a comparison between beats pro vs srh750dj regarding the price? just the sq ^^

i personally prefer the beats pros. i got to try them at best buy today and tehy let me hook it up to my own ipod. i just found they distorted less. and had a more fun sound. i dont understand why everyone hates them so much. i quite liked them. not saying my shures are bad though. i just think they need an amp or dac to hear what they are capable of.

225 is still a lot of money for fart cannons. if you want good fart cannons that will out fart the beats. sony is your contender and knows how to pack the intestines with fartified nutrition of their XB series.
