REVIEW: 20 Headphones Compared
Jan 15, 2011 at 8:18 AM Post #301 of 368
Oh so RudiStor make headphones now? Maybe I should buy them to use with my RP-1000 amp but then again after buying that and the Edition 9's, HD800 and other stuff I can't afford to buy anything for a LONG time. Oh well there is always Christmas or next year after I buy that McIntosh MVP-881 and then buy balanced connections from the McIntosh to the RP-1000 and then balanced cables (same company) from my HD800 to the RP-1000....... that's about $20,000 right there

Yes, I think Rudistor made one headphone , it's called Chroma MD1 with the price before the dollars tumbles is around 900$ and it's been
increased to around 1000$ before I made a decision to buy , so I didn't buy the Chroma MD1.   I am waiting for more review but I don't get
any.  According to one reviewer using the Krell systme, he said that it is better than the HE6 but is still a notch below the AKG K1000 which
he thought that the AKG K1000 is the king of headphone.  Please don't be confused between the Chroma MD1 and the Chroma signature
because the Chroma signature is Rudi Stor 's flagship headphone and it is not available for commercial.
Dear David, please also write a review on Chroma MD1

Dear David,
I am trying to get one AKG K1000 from Germany website
I have asked about the bass heavy version vs bass light version
He is engineer who is doing the amplifier for the AKG K1000 , he mentioned
that the AKG K1000 has USA version and European version : the USA version
had more bass while the European version has less bass and he said that
he has no problem with the bass of European version.  I also asked about
the newer AKG K1000 and he replied that the dynamic of the newer AKG K1000
is not very good.  He also said that the serial number may not be very accurate.

The best advice I can give you is to definitely shop by serial # and condition.  I would search for one that is 10,000 + and in good condition.  It will 90% be bass light, but it will probably last you longer and the bass light (while not generally the preferred version, because people like their bass) will probably have less rattle issues because the rattle is caused by bass and also, I personally would like a tad less bass on my K1000s and I'm probably the first person to ever say this about them.

Best of luck.

Terrific roundup David and a very enjoyable read... about headphones I can never afford :)

Looking forward to see how the Grado RS2's and RS1's fit into your list, that is, IF they even make it into the top 20 or whether your list will expand to top 25 or top 30. Keep up the great work!

ps. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I counted only 90%. Where's the other 10% go?

#4. Sennheiser HD800 with APureSound Balanced V3 dual 3-pin XLR
Uses: Classical >65% / Jazz & Acoustic >20% / Rock <5%

Hahaha, great that you found that........ Rock should read <15%.  I'll be adjusting the whole OP in just a few weeks.  I have a lot of new inventory to include.

Including some Stax, the Orpheus, a bunch of Grados.....and soon possibly the new Stax.  Also a lot of new amps included in the mix.
