Sony X-Series Walkman vs. Apple iPod Touch in sound quality?

Thread Starter

I read that Sony X-Series Walkman has GREAT sound quality.  I can't test it because it only works with Windows machines (stupid Sony!) and I don't have a PC box.  Has anyone compared it to the Apple iPod Touch in sound quality?  Sony-walkman-x-series-amoled.jpgapple-ipod-touch.jpg

Try the search function....they've been compared in multiple threads.

I only heard the Touch once, so cannot comment to much on it  and i did not find it to be that great.  I am a bit of a basshead and I found it lacking bass and found the Sony to be more brighter in the treble.  I preffered the Sony X over the touch.

The EQ on the Walkmans win hands down over the iPods IMO.

I have the A828, but have heard the X series (for me the SQ  difference didn't warrant me getting the X)

The only way i get my Touch EQ to be comparable to the A828 is by using an 7 band parametric equalizer app from the App store. The Apps called "Equalizer" but it does have its drawbacks (being an App) and you must be running ios4 and a 3gs or 4g to get 7 bands. otherwise you only get 3 bands.

+1 on the Sony.

Btw, it does work with macs, but only drag-and-drop.  Haven't had any problems with it.  Like the previous poster said, it's great unamped!
