That is basically it.
I should add i have small ears so i also get a great isolated fit. I adjusted the headband with minor force so i clamps firmly also.

But yes, simply put i am micro adjusting the distance of the drivers from my ears and yet the changes are whilst subtle quite drastic at the same time.

It makes sense. I did something similar with my AD700 and AD900x. Play around with adding more to the back than front too in order to angle the drivers. Changes the sound stage.

I bought mine in Japan from bic camera one of the largest most legit electronic department stores.they are definitely not fakes.

Edit: but of course i had to check lol.
-gold bits in the plastic-yes.
-shiny metal check-yes.
-beautiful feeling lambskin pads-check.

Do they sound awesum.yes.

#1 I love bic camera ... I'm jealous ..
#2 I spent an hour in best buy with my fiio e07k comparing this to their other premium headphones including senn momentum, denon ahd-600, and akg k550. The esw9 were head and shoulders above the others in terms of range and balance. They are definitely the real deal ...

Best Buy had ESW9's?  I'm shocked.

I know right !! They actually have a small hifi section of gear that you can plug your own stuff into. I went there looking to hear the momentums and walked away impressed once again with audio technica. They claim that they will price match amazon also FWIW

I too was surprised to see the headphones they had. My best buy had the esw9a as well. Since when does best buy price match amazon? Gotta take advantage of that!

I'm about to buy the ESW9 (i know very late to the party) from Japan on Amazon Japan. Anybody here have any bad experiences from Amazon Japan?

My logic is that since ATH is japanese, there's less likely hood of them being fakes in Japan.

I'd say your best bet is to buy from a reliable dealer like Amazon regardless of country. Then get prepared to fully enjoy the ESW9 experience.

Thanks for the up.
I thought Amazon IS the dealer...am I wrong?
My Japanese is sketchy at best which makes things a little harder, that's my only slight issue

I know this is an appreciation thread, but in case anyone is interested, (perhaps the gentleman above this) I am selling my ATH-ESW9's with the custom silver cable. As fantastic as these things are, I am looking to get a new pair of full size headphones and the wife is making me sell some things first :frowning2:

Where are you guys ordering these from? I remember ordering a pair a couple years back at around $180-200, but now, I can only find them for around $240 from Adorama.com. Any insight as to another reliable place to get them for less?

While they are high now, if you watch Amazon, they periodically come up for $180-190.

Ah. I'll keep an eye out then! Even with the tax bringing it to around $200-210, it's still better than what they're at now.
