would using an equaliser damage my A900s? Would it be safe for the headphones to use the EQ on my fortissimo 3 sound card to give it a bit of a bass boost (for example)?

i use a slight treble and bass tone control with my W1000's and they shine even more than they already do without EQ. give it a shot and see how you like it. when it comes down to it, it all really depends on what type of equipment you have running your AT's. on some equipment, some people have said that EQ'ing their AT's does more harm than good.

pretzel,
i don't want to be an *****, but please, next time title your thread as "EQ for a900", "equalizer for a900" or so.

good luck with the experiments, and welcome to head-fi

lol..i think u guys misunderstood what i was trying to say

i meant as in...will it do any damage to the actual headphone (drivers etc)?? cause i know that using EQ can damage speakers (cause you could be pushing the drivers too hard..or something like that, and then they will eventually 'blow')
is this similar to headphones?

you can also damage speakers by playing music

as long as the volume levels are reasonable, and you're not doing extreme bands boost (or cuts, it's all relative), which your a900 don't require anyway (probably, they are high quality cans after all), it should be fine.
same for speakers
