I must admit, it was as good as I thought it would be but it was pretty good esp when compared what other movies are out now.

Amazing, this is a very action packed movie... you can say much about it, but boring it isn't.

So I'll wait until all the noise about the movie dies down, I'll maybe buy it in DVD in a year or two, and watch it with a clear mind and a different attitude towards it. And hopefully, I'll have read the book in between.

This way you're setting yourself up to be dissappointed... This is a gorgeus movie, watch it in a cinema or you'll lose that part of it too.

Never let other people's impressions ruin your own experience and a movie isn't nessesarily bad just because it goes mainstream...

You have to remember, fantasy just isn't what some people like. This one person I know reads a ton of books, but the instant I sugested a fantasy novel, she said no, mearly because it was fantasy.

Anyway, GO see it in the theator, its $7 and then if you like it you can see it again and buy the DVD. If you don't, well then you don't end up wasteing $20+ on the DVD when it comes out.

Agreed. fjhuerta, your mother and friend must've wandered into the wrong theater or something.
